Re: Mill City Quarter - (300 South 2nd Street)

I too can deduce the reasoning for leaving Phase II "up in the air". I wouldn't be shocked to see something over 400ft on Phase II if the market permits. This seems like the only way to achieve river views due to Riverwest. I'd like to see another condo high-rise similar to "sleekness" of Magellan's...

I'm odd: I am po life, against the death penalty, I believe that the insane should not be homeless but in a safe living arrangement/housing and that it should be fully funded. i believe if you have never had a job yet you have four children? No welfare; get a damned job. If you are on welfare you m...

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations

I've fantasized about converting the armory into a farmer's market like the Eastern Market in Washington DC. Maybe utilize the block to the north or the south as a "Market Park" with vendors. I love this idea! It would be great to transform the block north of the armory into an urban farming park. ...

Re: University of Minnesota

Dont know if anyone has walked a beat around this area lately, but the Washington Ave strip between Harvard & Huron is transforming into a great little "village". I think, upon the completion of The Station on Washington, this area will draw even more students, (and maybe young professors) to the ar...

Re: Vote NO! & NO!

Thanks John, fotoapparatic, and FISHMANPET for the conversation. Although I still view marriage between one man, and one woman, I have changed my position on this amendment. It seems, like many have stated, it is wrong to force one's ideals onto an entire population. :)

Re: Vote NO! & NO!

I view marriage as a bond between one man, one woman, and god, not a signed legal document. That being said, it really doesnt matter to me which way this vote goes. Your church is not in any way threatened by this amendment. My church however is. That would be the Government telling my church that ...

Re: Vote NO! & NO!

Everyone, As me and John have already illustrated, it is obvious that we all have polar views on this subject. Pursuant to this, I suggest we all post our opinions, and refrain from insulting comments, and assumptions of others beliefs. I guess I will never figure out why people are so opposed or th...

Re: Velo Apartments - (103 Second Street North)

I saw a question about this project in another thread so I thought I'd mention it here. There is still a "for sale" sign on the building and Merit Printing is still operating. Something will eventually happen on this plot but all signs point to it not being the Velo proposal. I am relatively new to...

Heres an article in the Trib: LINK Not too much info, but thought I would post it. The Bridges - (950 University Avenue SE)

http://www.mndaily.com/2012/10/16/fear-hitting-apartment-‘saturation’ Sounds like Doran is planning another student housing project across from FloCo. It didn't specify the exact parcel, but I imagine its the one bordering the 35W exit ramp, and University Avenue. Has anyone herd about this yet? Sou...

Re: Uptown hotel discussion

We're not talking about a 500 room hotel here -- we're looking at a 100 room hotel operating in an area with very little competition. Who would stay at an Uptown hotel? Likely someone who's somewhat familiar with Minneapolis, perhaps the family or friend of somebody who has an apartment in Uptown w...

Re: Uptown hotel discussion

As a devils advocate, Ill throw out some negative thoughts. I dont think Uptown could support a hotel of significant size for the reasons following: Uptown is not a national, state, or metro destination. At best, it is a destination for people in Minneapolis, and those in the surrounding inner-ring ...

I always envy houston for that one. Relly? IMO, this building doesn't belong in Houston. I always thought this belonged in Austin or San Antonio. It seems so...alamo-like if you will. Not that it's a poorly designed building by any standards, but I still feel that it is an oddball in Houston. If yo...
