Re: Sioux Falls - East Bank redevelopment

1917 building in downtown Sioux Falls collapsed today, apparently while interior renovations were being performed. A woman (and dog) have been rescued, but another man (construction worker) is believed to still be in the rubble. http://www.argusleader.com/story/news/crime/2016/12/02/wall-collapses-d...

Re: High Speed Rail MSP to Rochester

I'm pretty sure XpressWeat had applied for a large (multi-billion $) FRA loan, so that may be where the Buy America provision arose.

Also, I drove through the Chicago metro on my way to Michigan last weekend. The total bill on my iPass statement was $5.75, Wisconsin state line to Indiana state line. In the article the opponent states $40 You must not have taken tollways the entire way, although I don't know where $40 comes from ...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

If any decision requires 3 counties, what's the point of the weighted votes? It seems like that only conveys veto authority to the larger counties.

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

Seems to me like the stretch from the Illinois state line to Madison would be a good spot to convert/extend the tollway. I don't know what the political and/or technical issues would be for that in Wisconsin, but tolling would be a good way to limit extraneous travel demand and provide a funding str...

Re: Minnesota Valley regional rail (Shakopee, Mankato, beyond)

A line to Sioux Falls would be such a huge boon for a lot of people. The Twin Cities is a big college destination for a lot of SF kids (that's how I ended up here), and it became quite a ritual trying to arrange rides over breaks to get back home. Sioux Falls is also in the process of relocating the...

Re: Sioux Falls - East Bank redevelopment

To people from Sioux Falls, the entire Twin Cities = "Minneapolis" and anywhere in the actual city = "downtown". Annoying, but true.

Re: Sioux Falls - East Bank redevelopment

Mixed-use building designed by BKV planned for May groundbreaking. This is easily the most significant downtown development in Sioux Falls for a long time! I believe this is also the first project to include public underground parking in Sioux Falls. http://www.argusleader.com/story/news/business-jo...

Re: 36th and Bryant Area

The Bobby & Steve's in EP is actually pretty good, frontage-wise, just in a suburban setting.

Re: Suburbs - General Topics

I work there right now for a small company in the main tower. There isn't much WF presence in that building - Epicor is the bigger tenant in the tower. There are several small law firms as well - probably 20 tenants at least, I would estimate.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

Ironically, Bobby & Steve's has a pretty good urban set up in Eden Prairie, of all places. Compact site, good street frontage with all the pumps and parking on the interior of the site. Seems like a good prototype for this spot. For reference, the EP location is at 8100 Flying Cloud Dr (LRT accessib...

Re: Public Transit News and Happenings

I hope a SWLRT-Shakopee route could support reverse-commuters as well. Shakopee has a lot of well-paying industrial jobs, and making those accessible to SWLRT would be a big positive.

Sure it's a word. It's just a silly word that means something like "without a lack of regard". It literally (and I use that word literally) means the opposite of what ECtransplant meant it to mean, though.

Re: Public Transit News and Happenings

Somewhat older SWT news, but they now run an all-day service along Valley View Rd from Eden Prairie Rd to Southwest Station. It's only at 2-hour frequencies, but it is still a useful service for those who live along this corridor and don't want to be restricted to the AM/PM rush hour express schedul...
