I guess I'm a little hopeful. It is certainly different from the 6-story superblock that we've been seeing lately.

Re: Vote NO! & NO!

I think the big problem for the GOP in MN is that it tries to emulate its southern cousins. Their message I do not think resonates with Minnesotans. States with high levels poverty and low educational attainment is where the GOP tends to do best. Harping about big gummit and scaring people into thi...

Re: 520 2nd St. SE

There's a big hole in the ground now. How is this going to affect the soap factory and other building on the corner? They're not going anywhere. I'm curious as to whether or not they could get rid of the WD Forbes building on the corner (not that I want it to go anywhere). I know it is part of the ...

I think they may have started some excavating on the site. I've seen some dirt being moved that didn't seem related to the Izzy's construction yesterday.

Adding the greenery facing Central Ave, and building that structure on the roof of the existing building, is going to really help make this area less imposing. Hopefully there will be more redevelopment along Central Ave to make it more hospitable.

Is there ground floor retail on the University side? If that's the case, then it isn't as offensive. I'm excited for the lot to be utilized even if I'm still iffy on the design. That neighborhood needs residents!!! That area you're talking about was labeled "Residential Lobby / Amenity". It is a de...

I took some photos of the renderings / model at the third ward neighborhood fest. I took these with my phone, so I apologize for the poor quality. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8194/8075750582_e7d3225961.jpg 20121010_190838 by dmd.hashw , on Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8332/8075750616_cab3d...

Just saw this in an ad on the Daily's website: http://www.elysianapts.com/ I think this is what had been referred to as the Andrew Riverside redevelopment in CPC meetings? Looks like it's going in that open lot on 4th Street west of I-35W. Awesome! I really like that this open spot will be filled. ...

If anything, this might give the current owners incentive to do a few upgrades to the theater. Here's hoping for new seats.

So wouldn't the solution be to give people access to restrooms instead of rebuilding a historic plaza at great expense with the hopes that people hold their pee and walk across the street to find a place of relief? Or fully fund mental institutions and homeless shelters, so that these people have s...

From afar they seem alright, but the street presence is pretty awful. Lots of blank walls on the street level of the towers, save for what faces Main St.

I agree with you here. It seems as though there are options for low-income, and higher-income people being built, but it is hard to find new apartments that someone making an average-income could afford.

Re: 700 Central Ave. NE (former Archive condos)

University Avenue, between Central and 35W, could use some loving. There are some good buildings there (like the General Mills Technical Center, Santana's, Dunn Bros and Alma, and Santiago apartments), but there are lots of ratty 60's built apartments, and several converted homes that have seen bett...
