Re: Gold Line BRT (Gateway Corridor)

I'm glad that they went with the downtown routing instead of the Union Depot terminal.

The new Woodbury station was shown on the open house materials as a parking garage with a slip ramp to 494 for express buses.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Metro Transit moved the September service change to August a few years ago.

Interesting changes at MVTA. A lot of the local routes are low performers with a notable exception of the 444. I hope they can restructure the 491/492 at some point and have the 495 stop at Cedar Grove.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

I used to make the 535/539 to 465 connection when I was a student at Normandale. It was very infuriating how the schedules didn't match. Metro Transit and SW Transit used to run a joint-operation (Rt. 590 I think) c. 1999/2000. The route was soon cut, and became the peak-only 540. The 540 was expand...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Metro Transit express routes are likely more efficient as the routes are shorter and have leaner schedules. SW Transit routes are quite lengthy and there are some obvious service overlaps in certain hours of the day that lead to inefficiency. Plymouth routes have long local tails and an overall weak...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Maple Grove Transit is considering some route changes. Overall, MGT is one of the better performers in terms of subsidy per passenger among suburban express routes, but some routes are performing quite well and others poorly. The good performers are the 781, 785, and 789 which connect the large park...

Minneapolis address format discrepancies

Mod note: Conversation split off from 333 Hennepin Ave E (or should it be 333 E Hennepin?) thread. Love too be pedantic over stuff like this :geek:

Very petty, but it really bothers me that this thread is titled Hennepin Ave E instead of E Hennepin Ave.

IIRC that in Seattle bonus points/credits are given if bikes are parked in the "virtual stations".

Re: Mall of America Transit Station: Master Plan

The transit center received a light facelift when the light rail opened, but otherwise is the same with the light rail dropped in the center of the bus loop. I do seem to remember that the transit store was where the police station is now.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Yes, this is a nationwide phenomena for bus driving and is also affecting a lot of other industries. Currently unemployment levels are at levels not seen in decades, but with tariffs and trade wars that could change quickly.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

They just posted this today. Hopefully the August changes will retime the other trips to cover the gaps. A recession would likely help this problem as more people would be unemployed, therefore willing to work for Metro Transit. Additionally, a recession would likely reduce transit demand, so not as...

Re: Gold Line BRT (Gateway Corridor)

I really like the idea of extending Gold to Minneapolis and cancelling the 94. Will really make sense when the MnPass lanes are opened.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Doesn't having a park and ride at Manning Ave basically serve the Wisconsin market though? I doubt that anyone is going to put the money up, especially considering the adminstrative issues of having service in two different states.

Hudson used to have a Greyhound stop, but it was eliminated long ago. Currently there are no stops until Eau Claire.

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project

I believe the want is for direct access to the redevelopment area, so likely off 35W, and hopefully not a freeway armpit like they were considering before.

They have one in Prescott WI but it seems smaller. Also Whole Foods could switch to a different or self distribution now that they are owned by Amazon.

Re: Hopkins - General Topics

There are a lot of factors in play because Cub will be up for sale. If the buyer already has a strong distribution network, then there may be a reduced need for the Hopkins DC. That being said, the Hopkins DC is the largest in the Supervalu network, and the building isn't that old. It is probably an...

The July 26 PAC meeting presentation has been posted. Most interestingly; - The 2nd & Clark location seems to be the preferred White Bear Lake stop - Kowalski's is supportive of a transit-orientated redevelopment at the Marina Triangle stop. - A Buerkle Road stop is being considered. - Maplewood Mal...

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project

The Orange Line extension webpage has a video posted with the current update of the study. The study is being paused until Spring 2019, because of the following questions: - Burnsville Center redevelopment concepts (study just launched by City of Burnsville) - Connecting services - Is there a need f...
