Re: 330 South 12th

I've always thought the Normandy Inn should have an unfortunate meeting with a wrecking ball. :p

Single cars are rarely operated now. The night shuttle at the airport uses only one car, though.

Re: Southwest LRT

If the state doesn't pony up some money, then it shows the feds that all levels of government are not cooperating. If we can't get the federal money, light rail simply won't happen in this corridor without additional taxing authority.

Re: Green Line (Central)

Some updates: - University should be opened soon 1 block east of Rice, to Park St. - Rail was being installed at the Stadium Village and Prospect Park Stations. I wouldn't be surprised if rail is also being installed along the U of M Transitway. - Curb pouring looks like it will begin soon on the 29...

Gold Line BRT (Gateway Corridor)

An update about the AA was posted in August. The TSM, the BRT and LRT lines through the neighborhoods in St. Paul, and the Commuter Rail have all been dismissed. Remaining are LRT and BRT lines along I-94 and the Managed Lane concept. The BRT and LRT concepts were modified to run along the south sid...

Rapid bus is $1-3 million per mile, much cheaper than a streetcar.

Re: Robert St Corridor

Yes, its not that great of an idea. I doubt that any kind of light rail will be built in this area as it is. The highest frequency bus is every 30 minutes during the day, and that's on Robert St itself!

Re: Transit News and Happenings

There are both more lanes and transit projects in the pipeline. What are the expansions of 610, 694, 35E, 494, etc underway for? There are 3 light rail projects underway, 2 BRT lines underway, and a slew of projects in Alternatives Analysis. The CTIB and New Starts money might as well be spent on tr...

If you look at the Executive Summary, all of the service recommendations are complete or in progress. The study recommends; four new stations: Lake, 46th, "in the vicinity of 494", and County Road 46; three potential future stations: 38th, 98th, and Burnsville Center; and one existing station: Burns...

Re: 330 South 12th

This building looks horrible in comparison to the original school. So many changes have been made, and not for the better. It looks pretty bad right now, and I certainly would not miss it.

Re: Transit News and Happenings

Service is being reduced on the 2 from the levels of the last school year, but more service is being operated in comparison to the summer. As for the High Schools, North, Henry, Edison, Roosevelt, and Washburn are being converted to transit busing this year, and South and Southwest will convert next...

Looks like Metro Transit is officially advancing the Snelling Ave corridor first, and construction could be underway as soon as 2014.

All the buses would have to be run from the U to downtown anyways, so there wouldn't be any operational cost savings.

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations

I've also got to go with Mndible and Nasa on this one. There is discrepancy of 125,000 between the number of jobs and residents downtown. You can't expect those people to get downtown by walking or biking. It's a wonder we can even get 40% of people downtown by public transit, considering the limite...
