Re: C Line - Penn Avenue North Rapid Bus

The electric buses are New Flyers. Supposedly Seattle, Boston, and Los Angeles are also due to receive electric articulated buses from New Flyer as well. Is there a product page I can look at? I'm wondering if these are ultracapacitor based units. https://www.newflyer.com/site-content/uploads/2018/...

Some travel times from Nicollet Mall (assumed 4 mins from Target Field): West Lake : 13 mins Hopkins : 22 mins SouthWest Station : 36 mins As an analog, the Blue Line to 46th St is 14 mins, Terminal 1 is 22 mins, and MOA is 3...

Re: Amtrak Empire Builder and Intercity Rail to Chicago

It's fine for people who want to ride the train all day or are traveling to the minor stops. Looking at the feasibility study, the optimized option is only offset by four hours from the existing train. I think that the limited difference in schedule means that many of the riders are going to shift f...

Re: Amtrak Empire Builder and Intercity Rail to Chicago

I don't think adding a second train is going to be a big improvement to usability in the way that faster speeds would be. A downtown-to-downtown trip by plane and local transit takes about 4-5 hours, while the train is roughly 8 hours. The train is comfortable, but the carriages are dated and the fo...

Re: E Line ABRT

Metro Transit has launched an E Line survey. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/E_Line_Corridor_Study There are three options for the north end of the route: 1: End at Washington and Hennepin 2: End at Stadium Village Green Line 3: End at Westgate Green Line There are six options for the south end of th...

Re: Labeling the Transit System

I would imagine the whole thing will be called the Green Line. The Green Line as we know it was referred to as the "Central Corridor" during the planning phase. The Blue Line extension was initially known as the Northwest Corridor and was changed to Bottineau Corridor when Hennepin County renamed CR...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Uber and Lyft are decimating bus ridership in bigger cities. Part of this is convenience, and part of it is related to traffic congestion. I also think that many offices are downsizing their space needs and working from home on some days is finally becoming a real option for many. Lastly, Metro Tran...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Metro Transit has posted the new schedules for Dec. 1, with pretty much everything discussed about before being included. The previous question about the 263 and 270 shows that it is a light restructure. 263 will be extended to the 61/CR C park and ride and the 270 will no longer stop there (save fo...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Typically, service changes aren't brought before the council. I'm not sure why they decided to put these potential service changes before the Transportation Committee (as a non-action presentation item) and subsequently remove from agenda. I believe the only changes that go before the committee and ...

Anyone have any information on how many people get on south of Southdale? Do all of the branches extend south of Southdale Center? I know for sure is that for 6K does, because my fiancé takes that to work in the morning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk South of Southdale 6 service is only hourly...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Washington has significantly changed in the past 10-20 years, and is coming to the point where a crosstown line might be necessary. Also, the 7 used to run on 5th and 6th. When LRT construction started, it was moved to 4th both ways. Now that the reverse lane on 4th will be gone, northbound trips wi...

I don't think this was shared with the forum, but Metro Transit made a decision about the Route 19 service after the C Line starts. They will proceed with Option A which: Consolidates the H and Y branches to use Thomas Ave between Lowry and 42nd during rush hours Extends the new Thomas branch to Bro...

Re: Fantasy maps

Gold Line naturally extends to Minneapolis because 5th and 6th become ramps to I-94. The 66 concept came about in the early 2000s but wasn't implemented. It would have travelled to Downtown along the same path as the 70. Given that there are plenty of transfer opportunities (63, 74, Gold, 70) I didn...
