Uber is pulling all of its autonomous vehicles off road. Add five years to any scenario you may have in your head involving the adoption of driverless cars.

Re: Smaller Scale "Missing Middle" Multi-Family Development

US average household size has declined 25% since 1960. Assuming Minneapolis demographics mirrored the general demographics of the US, would explain the bulk of the decline.

I hate to spoil it but autonomous vehicles aren’t going to work.

Re: Smaller Scale Multi-Family Infill

Actually the person who exposed this policy measure only acted in selflessness, virtue and the belief in good governance. And are in no way petty.

Wheres those who support this policy are unserious naifs who have no idea what Real Minneapolitans desire.

Re: Smaller Scale Multi-Family Infill

It is similar to the TCBag article. The increasingly irrelevant Boomer politicians snipe through the media at the next generation of politicians. Maybe after he bridges the rural-urban divide Tom Hoch can blow another million fighting this.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Buses can handle whatever volume of transit riders the corridor can produce. Prioritizing surface area to transit is the most effective use of resources to improve commuting for the area.

Re: Crime

The article offers a great history of the area, very enlightening. I think what it comes down and what the article showed that rich people want the area to be nicer. But those folks haven't grappled with the fact that the US is a low tax jurisdiction (25% of GDP and falling). If you want your stroll...

Oak Properties has purchased multiple properties on Minnehaha north of 54th St S. Two contiguous pieces of land are on the east side just north of 54th and the west side of the Snelling Motel.

The neighborhood's input should have limited sway over someone else's property rights.

If the neighborhood groups demand the end of private property, that would be intriguing.

I assume that HNA Group, the buyer of the Carlson Hotels division, would move the staff to 33 South Sixth since they own the building. Makes sense to fill their own building instead of leasing from someone else. http://www.costar.com/News/Article/HNA-Holding-Group-of-China-Acquires-33-South-Sixth-M...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium

All kidding aside. Based on who is due to host and who has hosted in the past, a good guess is that USBS will get a Super Bowl about once every 14 years. Final Fours probably every 9 or 10 years. Unless Ford Field gets the next available, it will be at least 17 years apart for a second Superbowl in...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium

It was most likely a huge waste of money for local governments. Leadership is too scared to divulge the real costs.

The good news as Daren Rovell reported, the NFL will never have the Super Bowl in Minnesota again, too many sparsely attended events Friday and Saturday.

What makes a 800' tower viable in Detroit, but not Minneapolis? We can't even get the lousy Gateway off the ground. Money from the state. I can think of a dozen ways for the state of Michigan to benefit the city of Detroit that are superior to subsidizing a tall building. As far a Dan Gilbert goes:...

Lyft and Uber need either self-driving cars or a massive increase in carpool rides, otherwise they have a not-for-profit business model. Self-driving cars are fantasy for near to mid future, so they need carpooling to be big. The links provided do not work, but I'm certain its PR flak aimed at assua...

Cars do spend many hours idle, but they are on average one's most utilized personal possession. During high demand times on-demand services automobile will be overwhelmed. Unless somehow ingenious algorithms make pooling better than transit, stick to transit investments.
