Re: Future cars / Driverless cars

Judging by the speed at which this country has acted to remove dangerous firearms, I would say that cars driven by humans will be around for quite awhile.

Re: Future cars / Driverless cars

A human would not have driven into a truck that was attempting into enter a loading dock. True driverless cars are 35+ years out.

Re: Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board

Or we could just acknowledge that not everything has to be an act of political symbolism, recognize that we're really just no longer comfortable having the lake named after a person who lived in a different time and operated under different mores, and rename the lake something relatively benign. Ca...

Re: Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board

John C. Calhoun was not merely someone reflecting contemporary views. He actively defended slavery through his diplomatic and military duties and connections. He wrote about his dismay over England abolishing slavery. He outlined plans to expand slavery throughout the Caribbean basin. His diplomacy ...

I used dockless bike share in Los Angeles. It was not a good experience. I prefer the Niceride style bike dock.

Re: Amazon's New HQ?

Paul Thissen piping up about sites that aren't even part of his constituency just shows someone eager for ink. If Hodges refused to cooperate with a regional plan, that would show a lack of leadership. The RFP is due next month. I doubt that Mayor Hodges perceived lack of enthusiasm, real or imagine...

Re: Amazon's New HQ?

Does the office of Minneapolis mayor have the policy making chops to make a proposal in 72 hours? I would rather have a mayor propose regionally altering decisions with some sort of plan. Maybe Amazon is or isn't a good fit for Minneapolis. To blame the mayor for being cautious is silly. Being mayor...

Re: Minnesota Governor Election 2018

It there systematic oppression of rural working (non capital owning) people? I would be surprised if there was any proclamation to decree, other than admonishing the current economic system does not favor their preferred way of life. I think allowing cannabis to be legal would be the best way to win...

Re: Minnesota Governor Election 2018

There are approximately 4,000 mining jobs in the state. A new copper mine would provide around 400 new, good paying jobs and a temporary boom in construction. The tourist industry will be irreparably impacted. A politician can be willing to push for mining communities to succeed without capitulating...

But we can't pay for single-payer healthcare or free public college with taxes on $250k+ earners. I'm not so sure I agree 100% with your policework there Lou.. Recognizing passive income under earned income rates could easily pay for free public college. Heck, a modest slimming of military expendit...

I don't see that as a liability if messaged properly. Dayton didn't soak people with incomes of $75,000, he raised taxes on marginal income above $250,000. And that's not even close to the top 1%. Precisely. Going after people who primary income is from securities dividends does not equal going aft...

What does a "not a full Bernie-style OurRevolution candidate" stand for? Terri Bonoff's campaign slogan was literally "Uniting the Middle". What a fiery message! Dems have this problem nationwide. They try to turn almost every congressional race into a referendum on proper decorum. They are the juni...
