Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
It seems the charges took a little more than just the remaining ring beam. Do you suppose the corner portions that came down were planned?

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
Hodges and Mclaughlin have their minds made up I guess. It doesn't seem to matter that the railroad company that plans on using the track has the same concerns about this re-route plan as it has had with all of the others. The risk for derailment is a real concern with the curves and the length of t...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
Top of the back wall of the Dome just collapsed. Construction workers on the webcam are all standing around and talking- looks like it may not have been intentional. I had noticed the same thing after checking out the webcam when I returned from lunch. I called up my brother and told him it looked ...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
I was there last night and it was great to hear so many voices getting to have their say. The article in the Strib by Doyle was disappointing and the crowd estimate was absurd. The auditorium was about 90% full and had to be 3 times what Doyle stated. Terry from Tran Systems was just a good ol' boy ...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
Yep, everyone was loving "the worse venue in professional sports." Even ESPN and Fox play off the dome's horrible rep, including counting down the 10 worst Metrodome moments earlier this year. How many of those moments were football-related? I'm asking honestly. No one I know of seriously criticize...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
IMO the Met Council/Governor paid to get the study that they wanted. Now that's just silly. This study makes their job MORE difficult, not less. I expect the cost of the TranSystem plan is going to come in around $125 million. It'll be close enough to shallow tunnels to be a coin toss, budget-wise....

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
If this new freight re-route thing is actually viable, how the hell did we ever arrive at the whole 2-story berms situation? (Which, in turn led to the tunnels through Kenilworth situation) In retrospect, that is just really embarassing. The bottom line seems to be that a whole bunch of animosity (...

Re: Nic on Fifth - (290' - 26 Stories)
Funny, their Nic's Penthouses pic is taken from the top of the Churchill apartments. The Nic's views will be nothing close to that.

Re: MN Highway 7
The new Wooddale intersection is TERRIBLE. If exiting onto Wooddale from 7 West, you basically have to take over the crosswalk in order to see if traffic is coming from the left. The center left turn lanes onto 7 are very quick and not well designed. Who in the world designed this thing? The initia...

Re: MN Highway 7
I hope there are stronger ped/bike connections across the highway at this point. The relatively new tight diamond at Wooddale is not super friendly for those who are crossing the bridge over Hwy 7. Especially during rush hour. You really take your life in your hands crossing the bridge. According t...

Re: MN Highway 7
I have been amazed at the number of pilings going in. It seems like a lot more than other bridge projects I've observed, and the pilings seem to be going quite a way west of the bridge site as well. Does anyone have any understanding of why that would be? I haven't found a lot of detail about the co...

Re: Toro Headquarters Expansion - Bloomington
The majority of the steel is in, the roof is partially done, and framing has started in the lower level. They are getting a lot done, even in the less than ideal temps.

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
One of the many fliers handed out last night briefly went over the reasons 3C was not considered. In brief, it states greater construction impacts in Uptown and downtown, higher construction costs ($111 million-$180 million more than Kenilworth with the tunnel), significantly more property acquisiti...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
I was able to get to the meeting, but had to leave before anything of significance was even addressed. I was disappointed with the stutter start to the procedings. Doing introductions and then giving the crowd 20 minutes to talk amongst ourselves to pool our thoughts and ideas. I'm pretty sure most ...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
I'm hoping to make the first part of the meeting tomorrow night, but my time is limited and I'm sure that I won't be able to take part in much table talk, if at all. I really wanted to make it last night so that I could compare the two meetings. I guess that will have to wait for February. Thanks fo...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
Funny; the ad that appeared at the top of the story was 3 early signs of dimentia. It almost looked like a part of the story. In case anyone hasn't heard about the upcoming meetings, they are near the bottom of the story. Meetings will be held Jan. 7 and Jan. 9 in Minneapolis and St. Louis Park, res...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
So it still looks to me as though we will have new consultants look at every option through St. Louis Park, even those that are just plain absurd, but for some reason we won't review any other alternatives through Kenilworth. Hmm. Money and connections definitely do the talking. Like I have said bef...

Re: Halloween Decorations
We had 25 last night, which is about average. I found it interesting that we had 2 groups that walked right by my house and my neighbors as we sat outside with a little fire. They even said hi to us. I overheard one of the kids saying that they had to hurry up to get to the "good house". We started ...
