Re: D Line - Chicago-Fremont/Emerson Rapid Bus

according to one of the building owners on NextDoor, "every single building owner" in the node is against it. While I highly doubt this is true, they are whipping up a bunch of scare tactics like "remember when there was a gun shop here?" or "remember when things were boarded up", as if adding two B...

Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan

I've muted all of it on Nextdoor at this point. The same half dozen people repeating the same same ill informed fear mongering talking points over and over. Ire over our council member who was easily voted in. Yes, well, Nextdoor = "The same half dozen people repeating the same same ill informed fe...

Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan

My attitude towards homeownership is the same as yours, having experienced the same thing. That said, some of the opposition I've seen has been from younger, more recent homeowners too. I suspect there are a number of people out there who had to really stretch to buy their homes, and are now very w...

Yeah, Bird has people out collecting these every night and returning them to "nests" which currently seem to be only in/near downtown Minneapolis.

Most unfortunate. Not a frequent customer of Turtle but now even less so. You'd think they'd want more transit options, but they clearly view their customers as walkers and drivers from the immediate area.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Inducing more cars with the third lane during off peak is an unfortunate side effect.

I'm just bracing for multiple years of the car sewer mess this is going to create on local streets.

I rode on one on a 133 inbound to downtown in January. They're definitely a few floating around.

Re: Southside - General Topics

The south Minneapolis campus is employees in the mortgage division. Pre-campus many years ago most were downtown or at a site across from the Mall of America. The downtown location is just about everything else back office they have in town, they also still have some space in the Wells Fargo Tower. ...

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project

The 5 may be a half hour on paper but in my experience never was at rush hour times (as long as an hour, as short as 35-40 minutes). I did start taking the 14 in the fall when 35W was a mess. In "normal" times, the 133 was at least 10-15 minutes faster than the local routes. It adds up. The D line m...

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project

For a regular rider of the 156 express, the disruption leaving downtown this last week has been a scary preview of the next 4 years once stage 2 starts and access to downtown via 65 will be closed. The re-routing of buses to Park into downtown and Portland out of downtown will render the express ro...

I figure they'd have to have it in place by phase 2 of the project, listed as Summer 2018 on mndot's site. So sometime in the next 6 months?

I know it's only 2 blocks from 46th but a little surprised they went with 52nd over 48th, considering it's a likely destination for some riders given the commercial node there.

Re: Minneapolis City Council and Park Board Elections 2017

Strib editorial board "would do well" to actually visit Ward 11, where they could visibly see that lack of viable parking isn't really an issue in most of the ward. Shameful editorial, but I'm glad to see people seeing right through it. The problem is the voters that don't dig and will use what the ...
