Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan
Slightly off topic... I'm confused by the following article about Brooklyn Park. http://www.fox9.com/news/city-of-brooklyn-park-relied-on-community-input-to-create-6-pillars-of-2025-strategic-plan They are working on a 2025 plan?!?! I thought every city in Metro area was required to do a 2040 plan. ...

Re: C Line - Penn Avenue North Rapid Bus
I’m following down the line... sure it’s NIMBY but would it also have some YIMBY? With the overhead lines it REALLY solidified that the line isn’t moving. (One of the knocks against buses vs rail)

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
I’m always AMAZED at how fast the Blue Line gets to Fort Snelling. I ride 270 daily. Maplewood Mall to Nicollet Station is 15 miles and schedule says 34 min. I bet most days it’s closer to 38-39 min. Fort Snelling to Nicollet station is 7.6 miles and schedule says 22 mins. I swear I’ve done it in un...

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project
Nick thinks this is the best METRO project in development. Huh??? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I thought for sure he was being sarcastic.

With the amount of development in NE, how could they not extend this across the river?

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
I hope that map isn't a final design, since it looks kinda rough. Pretty great seeing all of those routes on the official metro map, though! I was just looking at the map again. The Rush Line is incorrect. It should connect to the Green Line around Regions. I think this map makes it clear that the ...

The map at the end of the METRO presentation looks great. Riverview is listed as LRT.

Re: Former West Publishing / County Jail development site
The rendering on the story (1st tweet) must have been version 1, aka "shiny and tall." The closeup renderings show a mix of windows and white that breaks up the towers. They also look shorter. I am not a fan of the patchwork design.

Re: Nicollet Mall
Is there an art installation happening across from the library? There is a massive something being built on scaffolding with lifts. Answering my own question. It’s the installation of Nimbus. https://nicolletmallart.org/blog-page/ In November, Nimbus, a sculpture by artist and architect Tristan Al-H...

Re: Green Line LRT
Sorry this is veering off topic, but especially with the Rush line in the Bruce Vento trail ROW, the Ford spur available for most of Riverview, and the gold line also planned for dedicated guideway. Just make it LRT and watch the developments roll in.

Re: Green Line LRT
This discussion makes me wonder why some of the other corridors aren’t going LRT? Our market is SO strong for rail, what would happen if we made gold, rush, and riverview all LRT? I think it would skyrocket the ridership. The Midtown Line should happen ASAP after the SWLRT.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
I’m guessing the problem is not that Minneapolis is losing office tenants, but rather they’re all squeezing down into open space plans, which use much less space. So the whole market has contracted. Anecdote. The company I work for is moving “soon” and we are downsizing space without downsizing peo...

Re: Green Line LRT
What is the line supposed to be at? Didn’t they project 2030 numbers? Have they been passed yet?
How high will this go once swlrt is added?

The downtown council was having a PACKED standing room only meeting in the room on the skyway level of Daytons by IDS. Looked like there was a presentation happening on screen. Anyone know about this?

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Thanks Tcmetro! Moving the 61/CR C P&R from the 270 to the 263 makes sense based on ridership. Glad to see it will slightly improve my timing and speed. I've been holding my breath hoping it was not a major restructure. My understanding is that the existing 270 frequency is temporarily propped up by...

Does anyone have a link to the actual report vs this story? I don’t subscribe to FC so it’s locked. I’d be interested to know what the congestion relief plans are.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Seems like the Transportation Committee has pulled the December service change presentation from Monday's meeting agenda. Interestingly, they are voting to proceed with an unsolicited proposal from Metropolitan Transportation Network, Inc (a school bus operator) to operate four Metro Transit routes...
