2019-2020 MN Legislative Session / Budget / Bonding

Walz is announcing his budget today. I haven't reviewed it yet, but something that popped out that he tweeted: "My budget proposes a 20 cent increase in the gas tax to keep Minnesotans safe, help businesses and farmers get goods to market, and ensure nothing like the I-35 bridge collapse happens aga...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

Almost 50,000 people living downtown in 2018. https://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/news/2019/02/13/downtown-minneapolis-population-nears-50-000-after.amp.html I’d be interested to read a streets.mn post with a map showing the boundaries of “downtown” and estimates of the population broken down. I think they did a pilot a while back. It was interesting. We loved seeing St Louis Park. Could be a hit if the couple is likeable. Fixer Upper was a huge success because people love Chip and Jo.

Re: Suburbs - General Topics

I vote for the Brooklyn’s to join but new city is named Park Center. (Like the high school) it would honor the previous cities and avoid any negative connotation of Brooklyn.

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System

I'm so glad I revived this thread today  Like many others, I think we should embrace the skyways. I hope as the downtown residential population grows the skyway hours and access do too. IMO they should be open 24-7-365. When I was down here for the boat show on Sunday, people were parking in ma...

Skyways = A+++ on a week like this.

Monday = snow leads to terrible sidewalks and intersections
Tuesday - Thursday = HOLY COLD!

Re: We have 30 Days of Biking; why not 30 Days of Transit?

I’ve found that my Go To Card and google maps having transit has increased my comfort with transit. I suggest using both to everyone. The hardest part can be the last mile.

Nextdoor is talking about a new “high rise” apartment development in WBL. That probably only means 4 stories, but according to one comment it’s for 189 units. I can’t find details on the city or developers website. Anyone want to help? Location: County Road E and Linden Ave Developer: Schafer Richar...

I wonder what this means for the E Line?

Also, the Future Projects page towards the end mentions a new limited stop service to Maplewood Mall. Kinda looks like the route 54 extension to me. Right?

Do I understand this correctly?

Nordic House, is the big building fronting Washington Ave.
Sable, is the building wrapping the parking ramp?

The old Riverwalk Apartments are being advertised as FreightYard Townhomes and Flats. It looks like they gutted the place and combined units. There were never units this big before.

There was a lot of debate about the parking ramp they planned for the US Bank site in downtown WBL. I have a feeling it will either be A) that site with no ramp B) a different site. But I’ve hears nothing official.

I agree on the strange feel of this corner. Anytime I've walked over to City Works for lunch it feels like a ghost town. Yet the other corner of Mayo Clinic with Kieran's does alright. Mayo Clinic still has 2 empty corners, which could be an indicator that this will be hard to lease up. I've always ...

There has been talk in many different threads about the skyways and how people use them. Even with temps seasonably warm, they are promoting the path from ABC to US Bank Stadium.

Wow, an aquarium is about the last thing I thought someone would add. It does say it will be in the former Ruby Tuesday's space, so we aren't talking about something the size of the attraction at MOA. Rosedale is trying VERY hard to stay relevant. 1. full remodel. 2. new Von Maur 3. new "food hall" ...
