Re: North Loop Neighborhood

The Acme complaint about parking speaks to the mentality many still have about parking: if it isn't literally adjacent to or across the street from the destination, it doesn't exist.

Re: Chroma - (113 East 26th Street)

It will be interesting to see how rent here compares to other recently completed "non-luxury" market rate projects. Rents at 2320 Colfax came in way higher than what was initially promised, effectively in the same range as any other new build in Uptown, regardless of no pool, etc. Rents at Zest (54...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

Well it's still better that they remodeled and made the nice corner entrance and then closed than if they hadn't done anything at all, right? Maybe we'll get another outlet store :) A Nike outlet store wouldn't be the worst thing to happen ... it would be nice if another sports/athletic apparel ret...

Re: 1900 Colfax Avenue Apartments (5 units)

We must have missed it but the HPC denied this back on April 19, going against CPED's recommendation. The developer is appealing that decision to the City Council's Zoning & Planning Committee on 5/19: http://minneapolismn.gov/meetings/legislation/WCMSP-180042 My guess is that this is a slam dunk a...

The Saks space is looking nice. Walked by the street level this morning, and they had the coverings off one window. Definitely looks ready for a Thursday opening.

Re: Legacy Condominiums - 121 12th Ave S

I think it looks nice and the materials all *look* high-end. I think it will turn out looking sharp and attractive. I don't think anyone should worry about whether they will sell, and how quickly. I think the Mill District has proven to be an attractive area for condo buyers. Not to mention, 32 unit...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

This would almost undoubtedly be a smaller space though, right? If the Y is so busy then why would they downsize? Yea, Gaviidae has less square footage, but the current location has lots of inactive/dead space (it is really odd). I go to the Y and have been hearing lots of gossip about this. Not co...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

The Y would not move into a location without a pool. Would not happen, ever. I'm sure they've had engineers assess the viability of a pool. If if can't support a pool, they wouldn't be looking at this location. The downtown Y is bustling. They have a daycare (ground level), offices (2nd level), and ...

Re: Eat Street

Excited to finally see this happen. Last summer they started bringing materials on-site and a lot of the windows were boarded up. Figured they were just doing a renovation; had no idea they were going to add some floors. Should be a nice addition to the neighborhood.

Re: 700 Central Avenue Northeast Apartments

http://www.rejournals.com/2015/12/15/dougherty-mortgage-closes-15-million-loan-for-apartment-project-in-minneapolis/ I found this interesting: "Target residents will be those with incomes ranging between $50,000 and $60,000 a year." Any thoughts on what rents will be based on that guidance? It woul...

Re: Motiv Apartments - 2320 Colfax Avenue S

I don't think the rents are out of line. I live in the Wedge, in a 1930s era apartment complex. No AC, no dishwasher, no in-unit laundry. No gym, no pool, no rooftop deck. Some things are in need of sprucing up. And, it isn't in as desirable/convenient of a location as Motiv. Despite that, my manage...

I'll have to get a picture after work, but the "Wells Fargo" logo is now installed on on west tower (along 5th ave). It's huge, classy, wonderful.

Re: City Center

Anyone stop in Sports Authority? Yeah; pretty happy with how it turned out. Quality, large signage really makes a difference on the exterior. The store itself was clean and well organized. Not sure if this was the case before, but the ceiling is exposed (similar to how it is in Marshalls). Merchand...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

Walked in on Friday and was definitely not impressed. Several of my friends who went along for the walk commented on how they seemed to take everything that would normally fit on one floor and spread it out across two. The lack of color and sterile/fluorescent-light feel was definitely off-putting....

Re: 113 East 26th Street

Wonderful! I've been in the neighborhood 5 years now, and while there have been a lot of changes on Nicollet (Eat Street Social, Ice House, etc.), there hasn't been any new construction. Also excited to see commercial activity creep along 26th (although I still hate the rehab they did to the buildin...

According to City Pages, Pimento Jamaican Grill (currently only location is in Burnsville Center) will be opening a second location, somewhere on Eat Street. Re: Downtown Office Market

I think we will see job gains in other areas at Target, negating most of these cuts. I doubt there will be a net job loss for target hq in 2-4 years.

Also, talking with friends that work at target, this overhaul is long overdue. Short term this sucks, but it's for the best.

You can see some of the glass siding from the stone arch bridge now. I'm really impressed by the presence this project has, particularly from the bridge.

Demolition has begun. I drove by today on my way home from work and noticed that the old building has been completely demolished. They are moving quickly on this one.
