To me, what would be "pure folly" would be letting the questionable decision to devote hundreds of millions of our limited transportation dollars to fixing up SPUD then distort our transit route planning so as to save face. Amtrak has been hedging their bets on SPUD, and probably would be reluctant to add additional stops, as the Empire Builder is already a long route that is prone to delays headed East. However, if they do add additional train service between MSP and CHI, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have this MSP-MIL...

Is there a clear vision of how both of these will integrate into the transit system we are slowly building? Union Depot clearly has far greater capacity and expansion possibility for future routes, whereas "The Interchange" looks like it will mostly be a stub station, which greatly limits it. Histor...

"JUST" easement rights? That's BNSF's property, not to mention quite a busy freight line as well. Are you suggesting BN shouldn't receive money to have additional trains on their own rail line that doesn't directly benefit their company?
