Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minnesota
Apologies if this has already been addressed... but why is the new Atlanta MLS team allowed to play in an NFL stadium? If there was a feasible path to a dedicated stadium in Atlanta it might have been a possibility. MLS needed another team in the Southeast and Atlanta has been continuously been bea...

That's a derrick to take the tower crane off the roof.Anyone know what is being put together on the west WF tower roof? Looks like a pyramid shape from the webcam. Some sort of hoist? Have no idea.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Got a letter today from BMO Harris (my bank) saying that they would be moving out of Gaviidae to a new location on the skyway level of 50 South 6th effective October 2. That's going to mean a lot of empty space in Gaviidae unless something else is moving in. Presumably the Affinity Plus Credit Unio...

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minnesota
That's a pretty big throw-down from the county. Not just supporting the project but opening up the idea of using the Target Field tax, too. Mind you that would be used to fund the improvements around the stadium, not the stadium itself. My understanding these funds could already be used for this pu...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
I believe it also has something to do with the federal schedule. Projects need federal approval to get money along the way and municipal consent is almost certainly part of the criteria for getting said money. They literally may be prevented by federal rules from waiting for more engineering before...

Radisson Red to be the hotel. http://www.startribune.com/radisson-red-coming-to-downtown-st-paul-the-brand-s-second-twin-cities-location/318667951/ This is kind of in the wrong spot. Re: Upper Mississippi -- No Locks For You
Yes, bizarrely the lower locks are still operational and there's no current plans to change that. Since there's no industrial users between St. Paul and the lower locks, we'll be spending millions of dollars keeping these locks operational for pleasure cruises. I would presume they're operational s...

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minneapolis
It is not necessary to acquire that property. There is some city or county traffic building next to the FM that they would have to acquire or raise to get the stadium bowl to fit. It is about equal with where the street at the North end of the FM borders.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Quick question. What is the cost of the maintenance facility for this extension? And why is it needed? Doesnt the line already have one? Why does there need to be 2? Pretty sure the OMS facility in downtown St. Paul wouldn't be able to handle all the train sets for the entire line. Just the same as...

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minneapolis
Serious question: Does McGuire's group own this prime land that they intend to build this stadium on? I just need to understand why it seems to be a foregone conclusion that they get to build on this site? Do they have a purchase agreement in or do they have it under contract? Does the city not own...

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minneapolis
The thing about the whole options backdating, is that it was common practice in companies across the country. Many times it was used as a way to reward a CEO or management for increasing the companies stock and performance. McGuire's was approved by the entire board as a way of rewarding him for pe...
