Re: Suburbs - General Topics
I've never worked in downtown so I don't know- are there similar "reactionaries" working downtown that are horrified at rumors that the company might be relocating to the suburbs and whose tentacles have to reach deep into every aspect of the business? Yes! The benefit of a downtown offic...

Re: Honolulu
I visited Hawaii over spring break and it looks to ready to open by the airport. To hear it’s another few years is crazy.
Anecdotally the traffic wasn’t bad. We were on the freeway at midday so maybe only rush hour is gridlock.

Mounds View council denied a rezoning for an apartment proposal at 2310 Mounds View Boulevard, from R-1 Single Family Residential to PUD Planned Unit Development. Sounds like this would have been phase 1 with another building to the east once they obtained the three small lots and combined. No timel...

287 units is close to the 241 units proposed to replace Myth, but there's nothing else on the City of Maplewood's development project site. I wonder if the current owner had as-of-yet unrevealed redevelopment plans in the works that they're including with the sale, in case the new owner wants to ju...

Have we seen the redevelopment plans? This mentions 500 apartments with 287 adjacent to the mall. That’s news to me.

How are the older office buildings doing in the area? I know IHeart takes up a lot of space in the south building (1600 Utica). Is Moneygram still in 1550 Utica?

I work in this building. They made a lot of changes to add amenities right before the pandemic. But the skyway level is dead and if it’s owner also owns the Hennepin side (probably) the closure of Rock Bottom was a signal.

There are many in the neighborhood with yard signs that say “Save Snail Lake” and they’ve been fighting the whole project for a while. They list many issues but it really comes down to a main argument about the lake being “too busy” already and this apartment would have dock slips. Their website: ht...

Darn. I see 270 is getting reduced in December. It’s currently at 6x per direction and listed to be reduced 1-3x. I used to ride daily but can’t right now because the timing is terrible. I hope it’s the early morning trip(s) to be eliminated.

We've been discussing the St. Thomas athletics facilities in a couple of different threads. While they're still talking about locating new baseball and softball facilities at the southern end of the Ford redevelopment, this showed up on Twitter: https://twitter.com/JessRMyers/status/157262484610580...

Hopefully this is the first of many to redevelop the whole Maplewood Mall super block. Interesting that they say there is a future road planned for the east side of the Myth property. That makes me think a new grid is planned out.

We tried to go to the state fair today. We were hoping to utilize a park and ride and quickly found out that they were all full. As I looked into it further, they really cut back on the express routes too. In years past I believe they utilized many park and rides in Maplewood, Woodbury, Blaine, etc....

Is it on the lakefront? This took me a minute. The address according to the packet is 10 Water Street. Which is across lake street from the Port of Excelsior. I read lakefront as directly on the water.
This will be a great addition to the lake!
