Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

Someone who needs to make those trips should buy a U-pass. Transit ain't free (not saying it shouldn't be...) I still favor a mandatory U-pass for anyone taking a full load of credits (13 or more). It's such a minor drop in the bucket compared to full tuition costs. Agreed. I always see administrat...

Re: Apartment Boom

I'm going to keep an eye on this one. Many of my neighbors in my North Loop apt building have told me that their rent was going up by almost 10%. With rents for 1 one bed at about 1500-1500 I thought the market wouldn't sustain much more of this, but I guess my building thinks otherwise. These kinds...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

Shuttle buses. I distinctly recall a few instances in Chicago when either the red line or brown line trains were not running due to fires next to the track. It was a pain but buses got everyone around.

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha LRT)

Bars close at 1am here? Give me a late night diner or food option while I wait for train service to begin again, and I am happy camper.

Will they be running later trains for the 4am close time during All Star weekend?

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

That one was particularly out there for me as well. Maybe he thought he was in Chicago? To get back on topic, I think if people start seeing the green and blue lines as the high frequency, well connected spines of the overall system, then they'll realize that what is particularly useful about our e...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

This guy seems to think rail service should offer a speedy experience: "One value of a built-out, interconnected rail system is that time does matter end to end because it’s a connection. Theoretically, one should be able to leave St. Paul, hop on light rail, transfer in Minneapolis and take th...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

However this quote really bothers me. While I am only one "choice" rider and that may not make that big of a deal in the whole scope of things. I remembered reading that this line was going to re-connect the link between both down towns. Putting in rail how much each core means to each ot...

Re: Target Field Station

So I took the worlds worst picture looking down 5th Ave. The sign has white lights, and the blue hue from the station contrast nicely. It's rather beautiful at night. See terrible pic on imgur. Sorry for the lack of rotation. https://imgur.com/361DFvl I may stop on by on Saturday. My transit junkie ...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

All of my excitement to ride this just left the room. At those speeds, it won't be part of my day commute. I can see test drivers being very cautious. But they're not crawling down the track so must be some switching or signal issues. People were already ridiculing the 39 minute point to point time ...

Re: Target Field Station

I think targeted (ha!) sponsorship of specific stations is a really great way to offset costs of transit infrastructure. When you consider how much stadiums collect, there's no reason to assume that a sponsorship of a major station wouldn't be worth a significant fraction of that amount. The name w...

You mean to tell me the NYC transit system has been using Target Corporate font this whole time? And no one is up in arms about this?

Re: Target Field Station

*shrug* I really like the sign. But I also really like the entire station they've built. To me, the "MPLS's Grand Central" hyperbole on one side is just as annoying as the constant dumping and snarking on it from the other side. I think it's going to kick ass. Not as much ass as it could ...

Re: Target Field Station

We can be negative about, or look at the bright side. I actually dig that. Looks great from a distance. Glad it's just letters. Anything that calls big attention to transit is good IMO. You can see that sucker from Washington Ave and I think that's cool. Helps to flesh out the neighborhood a bit mor...

Yep, Frey. I'm in the office at 7:30am, so it's always a no go for me. The upshot is, the turnout seems to be good. I'm always glad to see participation. Give me one evening and I'll be there with open ears and ready to chat.

Re: Development process

Or it's a process that greatly favors older people with lots of spare time on their hands, and that tends to be homeowners, not renters. It takes more than just putting out a sign that says "renters welcome," you have to make the process accessible to all, not just those with oodles of sp...
