Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

Rumor has it that the University has some issues with the steam plant and had to redo underground infrastructure beneath the path and the street ontop the bluff.

Re: North Loop Green - Hines - 350 N 5th St(?) - 36 stories / ~400'(?)

Here is the image of the whole tower from the Strib. What the the thoughts? I wonder if it will be skyway connected through the ramp?

Opportunity to force the issue of getting rid of the viaduct? I want to see Google Earth with this and the Gateway project.

I took a peek from the 4th of the library. You can see everything. I didn't grab a photo though :-( However, what occurred to me most was that they have a lot more sand to remove. The project is noticeably larger than the nearby Nicollet 365.

Empty storefronts in this area seems to look worst than in other commercial spaces.

Re: I'm on a Boat!

I forgot about the Ford Dam. If they removed the dams, I hope we'll be able to get more ppl on the river. If they remove the Ford Dam, there will be rapids which would make the river unnavigable. We'll hopefully get more adventurous boaters. Fly into MSP, run/bike around the Lakes and Mississippi, ...

Re: I'm on a Boat!

Might better to go downstream from beneath the falls near the U of M to St Paul. I guess what we need is a marina? St Paul has one by Crosby Park. Otherwise, if you had a fast boat...it would be a pretty quick from Mpls to St Paul wouldn't it? I think it might not be terrible far behind 94

Re: Thrivent Headquarters Block - 6th St and Portland Ave

It would be eight stories, daycare on the first floor with play area then next floor will house a burn non-profit and families and then above that apartments. Nothing seems set in stone however and they'll submit it to the city in the Fall. I don't mind it given that it is very neighborhoody and wil...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

I've thought it would be nice if Bike MN or the Our Streets Mpls had a membership program like MPR where you pay a monthly sum or etc and it gets aggregated and is used for grants to help biking. If these were sold at shops and offered in some form when people buy bikes they might have some impact o...

Re: Thor Construction HQ - Penn and Plymouth

The Northpoint building was torn down last week and the old Estes Funeral home short before that. Besides some surveyors I haven't seen any other activity for the new Northpoint building. Northpoint also seems to have seamlessly moved displaced units into the Thor-less building. Anyone know how much...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

Would be nice to use the West Broadway streetcar alignment between Robbinsdale and downtown (then going out to Brooklyn Park). It skips the Railroad bs and provides good crosstown & radial transit service instead. Just gotta get from the original blue line to Washington ave somehow to serve the...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

I agree move it to BRT. What were the other alignments? Could it follow the viaduct up to W. Broadway? I have no idea how it would fit on that road, however most of the traffic there doesn't consist of Mpls residents and includes many who would probably use the LRT.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

I would love to see a Cost-Benefit on removing the viaduct. Some people would be upset, they love to charge onto there whipping through the intersection. I take the bike path adjacent at times and there is plenty of engine revving.

It might looks great...sounds like it is also combustible. The fire was between two floors which makes me wonder is some equipment was installed incorrectly? http://www.startribune.com/small-fire-burns-inside-downtown-hotel/511238882/ "Fire crews located smoke and flames in a space between the ...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

I would love to see that viaduct go. It wastes a huge chunk of land between 10th and Plymouth for the ramps.
