Re: St. Louis Park - General Topics
Off topic, but I wouldn't consider North Minneapolis as a place with a lot of eyes on the sidewalks relative to other inner-city neighborhoods.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
New designs for the north-south downtown thoroughfare would replace greening previously planned for a low median that separated cyclists from vehicles between Seventh and 12th streets with white, flexible bollards in both directions. What is the point of this? Were those medians really that much wi...

Citylab noticed Columbia Heights new ban on new auto-oriented businesses. http://www.citylab.com/work/2015/12/a-minneapolis-suburb-bans-car-businesses-to-spark-walkability/421872/ Huh, Columbia Heights makes another national think piece. This one's about the changing identities of inner-ring suburb...

Bonus if the proposed schedule holds up: The Cambridge-Target Field train time is ~7 minutes faster than the drive time without traffic.

Where are they getting the 30,000 number from? MNDot's website says 23,400 for the eastern-most section in 2010. Seven lanes of traffic for that kind of volume is absurd.

As was mentioned before, table it until the streetcar work. I don't see much of a penalty to this option over the current choices.

And that whole foreign policy thing...The largest differences are probably in terms of Social Policy, though even then Obama evolved on the issue of gay marriage. I think I remember hearing Cheny changed his mind on it too b/c of his daughter.

Re: Amtrak Empire Builder and Intercity Rail to Chicago
I think the standard rail option would best compete with the lower cost bus/drive options rather than air travel. I would gladly pay a small premium for a reliable rail equivalent to the current bus experience. I also wouldn't want to be stuck storing a car somewhere if I was taking to a trip to the...

It is in these spots that criminals prey on customers, employees, hotel guests; all innocent citizens unnecessarily trapped because of the constriction caused by the mostly empty bike lanes.

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics
I bet some form of compromise could be reached pretty easily among the adults in the room, but I'm not sure there's any reason to at this point. Might as well go with the original proposal, because these people have no grasp of nuance and will complain if anything changes at all.
