Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
If they do add the ability to use a normal credit/debit, is there any reason to keep the original go-to card around? Wouldn't it be annoying to have lots of small transactions on a credit card statement, or *particularly* a checking account statement? It's so much nicer to have fewer, larger transa...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
If they do add the ability to use a normal credit/debit, is there any reason to keep the original go-to card around? The people who use transit everyday have probably opted for a 7 or 30 day pass and those who may not have access to a credit/debit card probably can sign up for a Transit Assistance P...

Re: Northern Lights Express
Yep, although to be fair I haven't seen a lot of of hyperbolic statements for or against NLX (or at least compared to other projects I can think of), but its still there and still can negatively effect the project.

Re: Northern Lights Express
In my more cynical moments I kinda view some politicians who are "transit advocates" as people who want to either be the ones who will sign a bill/law that gives a project funding or to be the ones that cut the ribbon when it opens but make sure to be missing when its neck deep in construc...

This might sound stupid
But part of me thinks it would of been better to put the bike trail in the tunnel instead.

https://youtu.be/C16SDtppKBg?si=mEriQyq5khusvf8W Watching this video I kinda wonder how well swapping the parking and bike lanes would work in the cites (can't recall any that do so). Also does anyone know if any group/organization actually records the amount of riders on a given route or trail? Id ...

Re: Northern Lights Express
Isn't the NSSR just a tourist train run by volunteers that only runs a few round trips during the spring to fall? As cool as it would be to see it extended, I don't see it being turned into a proper mass transit system since they seem to be lacking in infrastructure, equipment, manpower, and demand ...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
Probably suited for the other thread but wonder how crowded the trail will be since Kenilworth closed years before e scooters and e bikes took off and I think it will still be one of the most popular ways to get from downtown to uptown for awhile (what's the ETA for the bike lanes all the way down H...

Re: Minnesota State Flag and Seal Redeisgn
Question is will we see merchandise for it, I was shopping around for a white elephant at work and looking at a bunch of Minnesota themed stuff and not once did I see the current/old flag, it was always a loon, a walleye, or most common the state silhouette (ended up buying a plague with the twins, ...

Re: Suburban Transit (Opt-out Services Providers)
I think that's a bit unlikely since weren't the opt outs because some some political meddling and statures in the late 80s to early 90s. Plus if we do I don't think well get another MVTA or SW, but something more akin to Plymouth Metrolink or Maple Grove Transit where they just run a few express bus...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
I think it should be fine since unlike near the lakes or the greenway there are fewer walkers using the trail for walking and the ones who do are usually jogging/running (although that could change depending on how much infill/development happens along the trail), I've biked it a few times and I hon...

Re: Minnesota State Flag and Seal Redeisgn
If it was a flag I'd agree but less for the seal. Someone correct me but I assume the seal is just gonna be stamped on official documents so how each of these look in black and white/2 tones is important. Plus this isn't the only official MN government thing that has a loon on it, our state quarter ...

I am a bit worried that the social workers are one fubar being captured on film away from being scrapped like that viral clip from around 2017-2018 of a MTP officer asking if someone "was here legally" that got him and the agency as a whole in hot water for a year or two.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
I wonder if Flanagan lives north or south of Minnetonka blvd because there is a bit of night and day difference for dakota ave. South to Wooddale and it's wide enough to put in the lane with the complaints about tree's is as overblown as the people who tried to derail the lone lake mtb trails by usi...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
Gonna play a bit of a devils advocate that 1. I assume the construction is gonna be the real tree killer both during and making sure no roots break apart the trail years down the line 2. if trees are big enough they do a good job slowing down drivers since it narrows their field of view as oppose to...

Re: Minnesota State Flag and Seal Redeisgn
Alright the loon one is good, was a bit worried that it would be to similar to the state lottery for comfort (and I think I remember someone the reason why none where excepted for the flag is because they really only nest in north and central MN so a good chunk of that state have never seen them in ...

Re: Minnesota State Flag and Seal Redeisgn
Yeah I can see that reasoning. On another subject do they have the finalists for the seals yet or does that come after? Because I'm actually 50/50 if I want to see a loon on it or not.

Re: Minnesota State Flag and Seal Redeisgn
eh Agree, although is hard to predict what the present will be remembered for and how the future will play out so its a bit tricky to represent both in a flag. I only mainly suggest the cross design because it's one of the most easiest features to point out and recognize on a flag. Although I don't ...

Re: Minnesota State Flag and Seal Redeisgn
i might go with the snowflake but I would of changed the yellow star to a cross since iirc MN has the most Scandinavian heritage/decedents out of any state in the US and for better or worse they where as important in the development of the state as the native tribes (actually had a random argument w...
