Re: Southside - General Topics

Anybody know where dirt that is piling up east of Hiawatha and south of Lake St. is coming from?

Re: The Capp - 46th & Hiawatha Mixed Use

For those who have been by this project lately, is it strange that they have a corner wall built up along the alley behind Falls Liquor before they have the foundation for the building in place? I wasn't expecting to see any walls above ground for a while.

Re: What wrong with our parks?

Minnehaha Falls Park is probably my favorite Minneapolis park. The addition of Sea Salt and subsequent pavilion renovation a couple years ago really polished up this place nicely. It feels like a European park to me. Not to mention Longfellow Gardens right next to it. I agree with Karen and also thi...

Re: Fiber Internet and TV Services, Cord Cutting

On the Hulu Live free trial this week. The quality is not as good as YouTube. There are many times during a broadcast, FSN's broadcast of MNUFC's game against Orlando last Saturday for example, where the stream jumps back a few seconds and repeats. A few other little streaming glitches here and ther...

Re: Single Family Home Architectural Styles in Minneapolis

I personally love my three-season porch. It's my favorite place in my house. Ours definitely was converted from an open porch. The converted porch cut through a window, so the window was covered over. We've since shifted the window over and opened it up again. I really like open porches too, but I l...

Re: Fiber Internet and TV Services, Cord Cutting

FWIW, I tried YouTube TV's free trial so I could catch MNUFC's season opener last week. It is a really good deal, especially if you are a sports fan. All the ESPN offerings and FS1, FS2, FSN and FSN+. The image quality is very good and the interface is nice. At $35.00 plus tax, it beats Sling's pric...

Re: The Capp - 46th & Hiawatha Mixed Use

I like how this sounds. I agree that this concept would be cool at the Uptown location too, with connection to the Greenway. This statement though stood out for me, "We’re going to test it and see how it goes." I think it will go well, but what would they do if it didn't go well? Of course...

Building is coming down. Ground breaking is March 15th.
Where did you learn about the ground-breaking?

There's a new chain link fence up around this lot now. Hoping for some movement on this project soon.

Re: Fiber Internet and TV Services, Cord Cutting

In regards to the FCC announcement on Net Neutrality today, is it safe to assume US Internet won't be throttling their speeds? I would think they'd have an even greater demand for their services if they don't. Wishing they could ramp up the roll out in Minneapolis. I tried their upgraded wifi servic...

Re: Oaks Station Place

I am very interested to see how Venn does at this location with no real parking lot, not sure what the set up is regarding the spaces in the lot next to the transit station, and the restrictions on the street parking in the area. I guess I like how this discourages drinking and driving, but I wonder...

There's a large crane at the bridge, been there for about a week now. Looking back at the Strib article from April 2016, looks like the plans were to restore the bridge. I hope that is still what's going to happen. I agree with nBode, it's a cool bridge.

Re: Hi-Lake - Minnehaha Mall (Target, Cub, etc.) - Downtown Longfellow

This clean up was inevitable after the stabbing. It's obvious that clearing the homeless out of this location just means they move on to the next spot, probably someplace more hidden at first and then moving into a more convenient spot later. We really need some innovative ideas to deal with homeles...

Re: Southside - General Topics

Property at 40th and East Lake St, old video rental store, across the street from East Lake Liquor was recently purchased by Julius DeRoma, the owner of Club Jager. The property is currently getting some rehab work. Per uproar on Nextdoor site, probably gonna be some protests or ruckus for whoever o...
