Re: Columbia Heights - Hilltop - Fridley - Spring Lake Park
Not really sure what you'd put there. Seems to small for a big box or destination type retailer, no visibility from Central for a restaraunt, any new construction would be too expensive for small locally owned shops. Also wonder when Menards is going to get around to rebuilding that super-weird store.

Re: Purple Line BRT (Rush Line Corridor)
If we were going to build Hwy 36 BRT it might have been nice to make plans before we built a dozen new bridges along it in the past decade or so.

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
Yeah, the original intent of MN 280 was to connect the expressway stub of what is now CSAH 25 to the Midway area via the Greenway, bypassing congestion downtown, the southwest suburbs being rapidly growing at the time and the Midway being a lot more important as a job center than it is now. The Gree...

Re: Minnesota State Flag and Seal Redeisgn
Shrugs. This conservative doesn't read into anything about the colors or orientation of the flag, and thinks the whole "it looks like Somalia" thing is a bunch of malarky. It's certainly better than the current one. Maybe I'll actually get a flagpole put up in front of my house this spring.

Saw a report on the site formerly known as Twitter that "Lakeshore Landing" was razed and there's that perennial "B&M Invert" rumor is popping up again for 2026. This was the former Dinos Alive ticket booth / gift shop, after it sitting vacant for a few years they tried renti...

Re: Minnesota State Flag and Seal Redeisgn
This was my second choice after the sort of North Star Flag although I wish they'd use a darker shade of green.
I don't have strong opinions on the variations other than I feel green should be included to represent the land and forests.

Re: Minnesota State Flag and Seal Redeisgn
Since the Great Seal "doesn't affect people at all" why not just have the name "Minnesota" in black Comic Sans text on a plain white circle and call it good?

Re: Minnesota State Flag and Seal Redeisgn
The snowflake design coule have worked if it was a bit bigger I suppose. The North Star Flag ripoff is my favorite of the designs remaining, although I don't see it as an improvement over the original North Star Flag. As for the the state seal, I do like it. I liked it more before they decided it wa...

Re: Minnesota State Flag and Seal Redeisgn
My problem with F29 is that from a distance it didn't look too different from the typical seal on a blue bedsheet flag that we and everyone else have.

Has there been any proposal to have any kind of rail their downtown in the past 30 years? Considering the debacle the Green and Blue Line extensions and Northstar have been, after Riverview is done are we going to have any more of some kind of rail anywhere in the metro in the next 30 years? Is a 30...

Is anyone shocked that "the laptop toting masses" never materialized? You don't tote a laptop to work at the Mall of America Abercrombie and Fitch store, and if you're working downtown, you don't take the Red Line because it doesn't go there. You take a commuter express service or else jus...

Arguably, the Twin Cities has the best overall stadium situation of any major city in the country in terms of quality / location / public debt. So how does our region compare with how much the average taxpayer is paying for them? I know every single person in Hennepin County is paying for the Twins...

I don't think anyone's going to argue we shouldn't fix the cracks in the foundation if that's the issue. The problem is I have a feeling the issue is going to be not enough luxury suites rather than cracks in the foundations. Haven't there been study after study that show that sports teams don't act...

We didn't need replacements for the Met Center or the Metrodome either, but we got them. I'm guessing that if they don't claim the X is a teardown, they'll come up with a couple of hundred million dollars in "needed" upgrades, to be seized from struggling hard working taxpayers without a r...

I doubt the land under Valleyfair is worth more than the park, so they'ed presumably sell it to another operator. Cedar Fair considered selling Valleyfair and Worlds of Fun back in 2009 to reduce debt following their acquisition of Paramount parks, but ultimately did not at the time. The three recen...

Cedar Fair and Six Flags merging https://www.cnbc.com/2023/11/02/us-theme-park-operators-cedar-fair-six-flags-to-merge-in-8-billion-deal.html Sounds like Cedar Fair will technically be the surviving company and take the Six Flags name and the new board will have 6 from each. New headquarters will be...
