Re: Counties Transit Improvement Board (CTIB)
Is there a mechanism for a city in Anoka county to step in for a certain portion of costs for a project, or not really -- thinking of if you were to extend anything on Central Avenue into Columbia Heights, mainly.

Re: 695 and 699 Lowry Avenue
This would be good, if something materializes here. Not as much development has happened this far into NE, and its better to spread it around the city a bit more.

Re: MSP Airport
I was under the impression they were consolidating under the Alaska brand, right? So maybe it would start on Virgin, but it would be on Alaska pretty soon.
Heard a rumor that this new service will be on Virgin America not Alaska.

Alaska and Virgin America have closed their merger. Additionally, flights from SFO to MSP will begin Summer 2017. https://newsroom.alaskaair.com/2016-12-14-Alaska-Air-Group-closes-acquisition-of-Virgin-America-becomes-the-5th-largest-U-S-airline#assets_117:19178 This is the domestic route I use mos...

Re: Minnesota Representation at the Federal Level
Hmmm...it's possible. He is supporting Keith's DNC bid, correct? He just started that Minneapolis Foundation gig this year though. And while he's long signaled interest in DC, I'd be really surprised if, at age 61, he's interested in spending several years being in the minority party in Congress. I...

Do we think this is a potentially comfortable place for Rybak to resurface politically?

Re: Minneapolis Mayoral Election 2017
I stand corrected; I listened to his pretty long interview on Keeping it 1600, and he seemed especially dismissive of the notion, so I'm surprised by the backtrack.

Re: Minneapolis Mayoral Election 2017
Ellison has given *zero* indication that he would be resigning from the House if he became DNC Chair and has dismissed all people who have suggested that the position should be done by a full time chair.

Walz could potentially be a good governor, but it would involve the Democrats sacrificing that house seat, in all likelihood.

Re: Minneapolis City Politics General Discussion
Alright, so adjusting to our new national political reality. Trump has stated that he wants to do a major infrastructure bill. Gov. Cuomo has intimated that it isn't going to automatically be hostile to urban areas, so there might be a possibility of some transit. Is there anything far enough along ...

Good luck to him though. I'm nowhere near as hardcore lefty as many Berners (on economic issues anyways), but I agree with much of what Barnett is saying in this article about the DFL largely being run by moderates, even in our most progressive districts. Like how many of our current state reps or ...

Re: 35W Freeway Lid and Air Rights Development
I didn't know Edina had been looking into one -- but I think this is all great news. I think these are great, high impact ideas at comparatively low cost. I hope we see all of these built eventually, but I really hope at some point soon there's some movement on one to act as a catalyst.

Re: Municipal Boundaries and Suburban Annexation
Not to get too off on a tangent, but it's interesting that starting in the 1990s in Europe, you see all this reorganization of smaller cities that results in a lot of mergers and such, yet we've resisted a similar movement around here. I imagine a lot of this has to do with the willingness of the ce...

Re: MSP Airport
I get that some people prefer it because of the shorter lines and such, but I definitely hope that none of the other legacies are forced out of T1. The amenities are so much better in the main terminal. I think it makes more sense for low cost airlines to be in T2, since I think there's probably mor...

At this point, I don't think we could name the neighborhood after Northwestern Bank... Wells Fargo is already getting enough grief over the "photo bombing" issue. A name like that might inspire them to bring back the Weatherball! :) I'll never stop beating the Weatherball drum, but that's...

Service to Ironwood, MI - a former Northwest Airlink destination which also saw Great Lakes try the route in 2012-2014 - will be initiated by Air Choice One on June 1. This will be the first destination for Air Choice One at MSP, which operates Cessna Caravans. Unlike Great Lakes, I don't think the...

Re: Nice Ride Minnesota
Are the new station locations new *stations* are are they just moved from other locations? It's hard to keep track of if things are net gains or just reshuffling.
