Re: Wells Fargo Redevelopment - 801 Portland - 16 stories - 180'

Kraus Anderson presented an update to the Elliot Park neighborhood last night. Nine residential units formerly at ground level on the 8th and Park side have been replaced with about 5,800 sf of retail space, bringing the total unit count down to 341. The retail space is designed so that it can be br...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News

Anyone heard of "Breakfast Bar" going in at the old Byte space at 319 First Avenue N.? I saw they blocked the windows today... I heard that they plan to be a 24-hour diner and are close to finished with construction. The folks behind it were also looking in downtown St. Paul, but I suspec...

Re: The Expo - 215 2nd St SE (285' - 26 Stories)

I really hope 5 over 1s are not a thing in the next development cycle, but I have a feeling they are here to stay. Land this close in would probably be 7+ stories PT concrete in Seattle or Denver. Maybe we should just feel lucky that we are getting underground parking and not Texas donut style devel...

Initial marketing is online for this project -- 'Second & Second' -- https://secondandsecond.com

It's mostly to get ahead of the retail leasing. Being advertised are spaces 1,000-14,000 square feet.

Here is the brochure.

Re: Uptown General Topics & Development Map

I was hoping this was for Ackerberg's Calhoun Square site when I first saw the image. If there is any place in Uptown that would get 10 stories and concrete, I thought it would be there. Hope this new developer can pull it off as it would really up the ante for future dev... and I hope Ackerberg isn...

Re: Uptown General Topics & Development Map

I think it's been said here before, but Uptown is in the midst of transforming from destination retail to urban neighborhood retail. I'd like to see Uptown retain its high-end stores, but the days of businesses relying on easy parking to lure people from the suburbs for a unique "urban" re...

Re: Theater Garage Marquee Apartments - (Franklin & Lyndale)

Assuming this gets knocked down, I wonder what can realistically go in its place. It's not a huge lot, and you definitely would need to rebuild to modern standards. Maybe another Modi? http://www.southwestjournal.com/news/2018/11/cracking-franklin-aldrich-apartments-under-renovation/ This article's...

Not sure I get the obsession with "holding the corner" here. https://ottawa.ca/sites/default/files/migrated/images/con022064_123463675.jpg Building height to street width ratio is part of it. Hennepin and Washington are the two main downtown arterials and ratio should be more like 1:1 (or...

Re: North Loop Development (Not West Elm Hotel & Condos) - 102-120 1st Street N

Maybe I'm crazy (and I'm certainly less qualified that some of you), but this looks like a major improvement to me, with the massing of each half being much more congruous with the historical references. At an angle or at a distance, they look good and like separate buildings. Agreed here - I like ...

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics

How many conversions have happened in the last 5 years? Has the downtown St Paul population doubled yet? There's been some conversation on Twitter about this. Looks like we were at 8,100 residents downtown in 2014, I'd like to think we are over 10,000 by now. As for conversions, the Strib article n...

Yeah, still not a fan of how it doesn't hold the corner of that massive intersection. Otherwise great stuff, density and retail!

Funny, they didn't even name the packet correctly... What other St. Paul project is DJR working on?

I guess I don't mind them taking cues from Sexton on the design, I like the brick!

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics

Glad to hear the Urban Academy project has been started. It must have been in the works for some time before F&C picked it up. DT St. Paul has so many under utilized office buildings that should just go residential while the market is tight - make way for some new office product.

Too bad, this was such a good looking project before. I get the softening hotel market, but not so much the condos. Seems like there is still strong demand there.

^ Beautiful! I'd like it if the architect could channel that presence on Wash/Henn. I suppose it's all a matter of opinion though.

Good ideas on the reasoning behind the setback...
