Re: Vikings Stadium

As I expected, the AECOM design is fantastic. Majorly disappointed.

Re: Vikings Stadium

Since 2003, the minimum capacity for a Final Four venue is 40,000. So no arenas. The idea has come up. 20,000 good seats is better than 10,000 good seats and 40,000 marginal seats. Plus, surprisingly wind or air movement plays a factor in large stadiums. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/s...

Re: Vikings Stadium

I'm sure that they did a lot of work, no doubt, but they didn't even touch what they should have known their clients wanted. I don't mean they should have gotten the job. I just think it's funny HKS produced a few fantasy renderings and pointed to their horribly functioning roof in Milwaukee and la...

Re: Vikings Stadium

A lot of work was put into that. Way more than HKS put into the bid, presumably.

I'd also love to see what Populous and AECOM brought to the table.

Re: City Center

The 3rd floor conversion makes sense. Did they do anything to the 2nd floor at that time?

Re: Soo Line Building Apartments - (501 Marquette Avenue)

Why, that's downright un-American! ;) I had thought that they were going to call it CP Plaza, which I was thinking was to "hide" that it is a foreign-owned company. Guess not! I like the sound of Canadian Pacific Plaza better than CP Plaza, anyway. Canada is part of America too. http://en...

Re: Vikings Stadium

I was in Seattle and milling around Century Link Field before the Sounders game, there was a huge mass of people. The atmosphere was really good! But I can almost guarantee you that if faced with a decision between the Sonics or the Sounders, Seattle would choose the Sonics 99 out of 100. Not that ...

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)

I lived in this immediate area about 5 years ago and I agree that it's super convenient. But it really is a shit show at night. Obviously this project and others nearby will help but it's still going to be an interesting mix.

Re: 430 Oak Grove - (430 Oak Grove Street)

I'm not saying I'm in love with this unit specifically but a comparable condo is going to be nowhere near $1300 a month + association fees + utilities. You'd be looking at $700+ a month is property taxes alone. But for for $1300 a month , you can easily buy a very nice one bedroom 775 square foot c...

As of today they are not letting World Street Kitchen set up their truck here during lunch. Seems to indicate that they are commencing work shortly.

I would agree, almost everyone who lives outside the city is a mental midget
That works out great since almost everybody who lives inside the city is an actual midget.

Re: Vikings Stadium

The Journal has obtained "schematic" images from HKS's original bid. Only one of the pictures is showing up for me, but it certainly is different. http://journalmpls.wordpress.com/2012/09/28/journal-obtains-stadium-schematic-images/ It's 2 different concepts. Not sure which one is showing...

HKS did not design Copenhagen Arena, 3xn did. HKS helped design the "guts" only.

Re: Vikings Stadium

I was thinking it was between a giant barn or flying saucer, but this adds the possibility of a giant circus tent. I guess we'll know soon.
