Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
Did Doran forget that the city wants something ICONIC? Their proposal looks like a residential tower that one would find in Denver. I really like United Properties' proposal, but it looks like it would fit nicely in Elliot Park or in Downtown East. Duval's proposal is definitely iconic.

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
Duval doesn't even have a functioning website.
I'm really disappointed Minneapolis couldn't attract national or international interest in this site.

Re: Minneapolis - St. Paul Business News
Saw something interesting today on MSN home page. They had a page on the 3 largest public companies for each state. I was quit surprised to see the one missing that I sure thought would be in the top 3. I knew Cargill was very big, but they are not public, But I had thought for sure that Target wou...

Re: IDS Center
You guys know iconic doesn't mean the most good-looking, right... ? Really? Do you think we are a bunch of 5 year olds? I'm sorry, but very few people give a sh*t about the IDS, especially those who are under the age of 40, implants, or visitors from outside the state. It's 2014 and time to move on...

Based on the reactions from out of town friends and family - the Wells Fargo tower is the city's most iconic tower and I agree with them.

We all would, but don't get your hopes up.I would love to see another super tall or at least something to rival the IDS and 225 buildings.

Edit: Nevermind I didn't see the following: "The new plan was scheduled to be heard Oct. 14 by the city's Planning Commission, but the Elliot Park Neighborhood Association objected to it, prompting the Planning Commission to hold off until its Nov. 10 meeting." http://www.bizjournals.com/t...

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
Should turn out fine as long as local developers are not involved.Nice to see the city has some high expectations here! We need more of this attitude in our downtown development.looking for something "iconic". let's hope.

Re: Opus Ritz Block Development
I for one don't think it's worthless to talk about what's going on behind the scenes of potentially major projects. Yes, there is a Norman Foster design for the Ritz Block. I could even describe it. Yes, Lord & Taylor signed a letter of intent to anchor the retail promenade. Yes, several intern...

by grant1simons2 » September 23rd, 2014, 1:56 pm Okay so that's still 2 ~300' buildings and a well designed corner piece Well designed? The new Xcel hqs is a prime example of the mediocrity that Opus brings to the table. I know Opus was having major financial issues just a few years ago. It's too b...

Re: Opus Ritz Block Development
What leads you to believe Opus can or will do better? They are going to have to do better here. And that means taller, better quality, with a stronger retail presence along Nicollet Mall. Otherwise its going to be a huge dud.

The Guinness International Cup was a poorly advertised event. I'm sure the Fringe Festival, Uptown Arts Fair, Loring Park Art Festival , Powderhorn Art Fair, and the Paul McCartney concert will impact attendance.

Re: TCF Bank Building Redevelopment
grant... you should upload it to the 3d warehouse... that way we can all view it in google earth. :) I created a mock tower for that site recently as well. This is what, I imagine, 44 floors at 15 ft per floor and 600,000 sq ft could look like: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-I-2y0Uhdwpw/U9sCpI9...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
I can't handle all the stops. Honestly, having to stop at a stop light and then immediately stopping again at the station is ridiculous. Add the fact that there are too many stations and it gets to the point that taking the train is a waste of time for people who actually need to be somewhere on tim...

Don't expect to see another office tower of 40+ stories anytime soon. I love posts like this that are complete Debbie Downers... offering zero context or reasoning behind why you either believe what you're posting, or providing facts to support your position. Markets can and do change often. As we'...

Re: Current & Proposed Downtown Minneapolis Projects
When was the last time we had anything hitting the 40 story mark? 1990 with Capella? Yes I realize that it's taller. That's correct- nothing since Capella. Almost 25 years. That's an amazing drought for a city that's metro is well over 3 million. And 40 stories isn't really all that big either. Don...

Any chance Ryan will dump its plans for the six-story box on the west end of the park? Why not add those 190+ apartments to this development?
