Re: 222

I think they only retained the parking ramp where the cars were stored. The dealership's front office/sales area had been demolished when Google aerials were taken in April. If you're seeing something other than the ramp, it must be new. He's only referring to the ramp. Does anyone know if the top ...

Re: Gold Medal Plaza - 10th Ave S and 2nd Street

I'm assuming that's an old brochure and there isn't any new momentum behind this project, correct?

Re: City Place Lofts - 730 Hennepin Avenue

I would love to see this project take place. It's a beautiful building in need of a rehab, and as mentioned above, in-core apartments are crucial. Keeping my fingers crossed for this one.

Re: Velo apartments

I can't think of any stick-built condos or condo proposals. Are they out there (in Minneapolis)?
River Station in Warehouse and Flour Sack Flats in St. Anthony Main are two that come to mind.

Re: Velo apartments

I don't have a link to their announcement but here's a story from April referencing it. http://minnesota.publicradio.org/collections/special/columns/cities/archive/2012/04/murals.shtml This kinda proves what I was saying, though. There are stories referencing the move, but anything new-ish is extre...

Re: UTEC Student Housing

I can't get behind this project at all. Don't trash a nice building with really good bones that could be around for another hundred years for another stick-built crap box.
Another multi-colored cookie cutter P.O.S. proposal. I hate this project.

I'm pissed because the stadium wont be tall enough. It needs to be a high rise.
This made me laugh.

Re: Velo apartments

Anyone hear any updates on this project? The fact that Merit Printing is still in their building, is still listed as owning the building, and hasn't announced a move casts serious doubt on construction starting late this summer. Or...at all. They have announced the move. It's taken a little longer ...

Re: Surly Brewery Site

Omar Ansari who owns Surly was a regular at a restaurant I used to be the chef of. I have a vauge recollection of talking to him about brewery sites and him saying they needed to be next to a rail spur so they could receive their grain via rail. If that is still true then it is a significant limit ...

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)

So, if I understand the location correctly, this will require knocking down the public works building located at 417 N 5th, correct? Not suggesting that's bad, just clarifying. Also, if that's the case, what are they going to do with the existing tracks that run parallel to N 5th right now? The desi...

Re: Vikings Stadium

...as opposed to the wide-open dead zone that is there now? Yes, that's clearly what I meant. Of course I was saying the Metrodome and its surroundings are superior in all ways, including generating foot traffic. OR, I was commenting on that rendering without reference to what is currently there, a...

Re: Vikings Stadium

It's a neat rendering. My problem with the entire scheme, however, is the closed-off plaza it creates. Unless those surrounding buildings could generate consistent foot traffic I fear it would quickly become a dead zone on non-gamedays.

Re: Xcel Energy HQ

There is no denying that in Minneapolis we have some less than desirable weather, and someone being able to traverse downtown to get that restaurant inside is far better than them just forgoing it and driving back to the suburbs to eat at Ruby Tuesdays when they get home instead. It's certainly not...

Totally agree density is the key, and I think everyone gets that but they--and I--get caught up in the 'sex appeal' of the high rises.

If Sherman uses real brick and stone instead of that fake panel crap they're using at Soltva it could end up a solid building.

Re: Xcel Energy HQ

For me personally I would never have picked Minneapolis to live if it wasn't for the skyway network. Instead I would have picked a suburb where I could have drove from place to place in my comfortable climate controlled car :) dispite the gas prices places like Apple Valley where everything is bunc...

Re: Nicollet Residences

I don't think anyone is at the ledge about the change. I also think it's reasonable to be disappointed and default to certain assumptions when no statement explaining the reason for the change was given. My frustration is directed at the unknown lender(s) for this project. Did those extra few floors...
