Re: Transit News and Happenings

Random question, anyone know why the 25 goes down McKinley instead of Stinson from Lowry to 29th? Seems strange to jog out of the way for four blocks.

Re: 2013 Minneapolis Municipal Elections

Meg Tuthill shot down a brewpub? Doesn't surprise me. Was that where she left a really unprofessional voicemail unbefitting of the office of city councilor? Even though many neighbors had good reasons to be against the TJ's proposal (it was not nearly as urbanist as something on that corner should b...

Re: HWY 36 walkway????

Speaking as someone who posts batshit crazy plans for a 150 mile LRT network, dual level downtown transit tunnels, etc. I can certainly say that I'm not demanding infrastructure projects to be built in any particular timeframe nor am I suggesting that they bear more or less merit to earn any of our ...

Interesting to see how little has changed over 20 years...

Also interesting to see certain people like Jean Wagenius and Peter McLaughlin who are sort of the same spots they were that long ago.

Re: Metropolitan State University Expansion

I thought the first Carbones was on Randolph near Fairview. Wouldn't it be great if a campus could sort of fit around existing commercial buildings? Finally, I wish there was a way to bring great transit to the east side. Too bad the neighbors vehemently opposed LRT. Based on an email I got from a M...

Re: HWY 36 walkway????

Maybe the reason why there's a giant parking lot and the cluster of apartments are disconnected is because Snelling crosses 36 in a freeway to freeway interchange without even a shoulder for pedestrians to use.

"We" are "they" and "they" are "we" -- you could also say we want them to use our public right of way to create compelling spaces in our neighborhood.

Re: Zoning in Minneapolis

The only legitimate regulation you cited was to prevent fires in rental housing... the rest basically just exists to ensure people perpetuate their own jobs. Existing unlicensed car hires do not egregiously break traffic laws. People do not let their dogs maul others if they wish to avoid defending ...

Re: Pedro Park

Any context around the factors which would lead to a tiny park vs. a 3/4 block park? I don't think this spot needs a full block park, but it would be nice to have it be at least half. Especially the second-to-last option which would allow for new development to address two streets and part of the pa...

Re: West Side Flats

This is another area that has redevelopment potential as the low hanging fruit in the current 'hot' residential neighborhoods gets developed.

I wonder how spendy it would be to create a LRT spur across the river to the West Side Flats.

Re: HWY 36 walkway????

Let's say hypothetically the 36/51 interchange needed complete replacement and was programmed into a future budget. What would people like to see here to accommodate a modern pedestrian/transit friendly development?

But Downtown East is not a neighborhood, but rather a conduit for traffic between the CBD and 35W/94 correct?

Zoning in Minneapolis

I know we discuss zoning as it relates to land use, so I'm not actually sure what the other types of zoning ordinances would be called. Many of these ordinances are frustratingly rigid and contrary to common sense. A few of these can be found here: http://www.minneapolismn.gov/licensing/business-lic...

Re: HWY 36 walkway????

This also begs the question: Should Snelling be a quasi-freeway between county B and county C?
