Re: White Bear Corridor

Thanks for the link but I have to question the date on that study. Around the same time studies were saying the Hiawatha would get less than half of the actual ridership it received. I think with stops on Stinson and Broadway along with learning from the Hiawatha project, a new study might be a good...

Re: White Bear Corridor

I have a feeling the residents of the Beltrami neighborhood would be horrified to see that map.
Is a light rail down Spring St. really that bad? They might think its I-335 part 2 I guess.

Re: White Bear Corridor

Biggest issue I see with this would routing it into Minneapolis instead of St. Paul's $250 million dollar empty Union Depot. Obviously Minneapolis makes more sense, but you know. You could maybe have a streetcar line down 61 but I don't see a light rail fitting into that part of St. Paul. At least ...

White Bear Lake-to-Minneapolis Transit Corridor

I don't know if its been mentioned yet, but it seems like this would be the perfect candidate for next LRT line once the Bottineau line is built. With all the industry and commerce along the ROW I'm surprised it doesn't get talked about more often. I drew a map of a possible route through Northeast ...

Re: LRT spur to West End

Having a spur that requires its own train might not be feasible for a route this short. Even if you expand it to the U the extra stops might not be worth the extra train traffic. I also think that if you take demand away from a proposed future route it might impede on its future construction. The id...

Re: Upscale outlet mall in Eagan

Thanks for the updates Lancestar. I'm excited to see this get built, but looking at the plans I'm thinking they could have been a lot more creative with the north side facade . Looks too similar to the back of a Home Depot really. Anyway works begun on the new road construction for CedarGrove Blvd. ...

Re: West Bank

I think it would be great to see this implemented. Though I'd fill in the whole trench west of 19th. Also extend 3rd St west of cedar and east into the bridge. If the land from the trench could be developed, this area could make downtown east an easier and more attractive place to invest in.

Re: West 7th and Hwy 5

As it sits now with the two blind left lane on-ramps and that downhill off-ramp the leads to a cliff, this interchange is far to antiquated to be expanded upon. We'd be much better off just rebuilding it altogether. Not just to make room for a transit line but to address the safety hazards this inte...

Re: Cedar and Franklin redesign idea

Seems like a good idea. Did you think about whether the light-rail line would be grade-separated at all, particularly at Franklin and at Cedar? Traffic can back up a bit on Cedar near that entrance ramp to EB I-94. There's also a bike path along the LRT line to consider, but that might not be too b...

Cedar - Franklin - Minnehaha Intersection

I'm sure every engineer who's ever worked for the city has had their own fantasy plan on this but I thought I'd share my thoughts too and maybe start a discussion on this forum. I rerouted the LRT to follow the present day Cedar and brought Cedar back to its original alignment as well as connect Min...

Re: Interstate 494

I know they're going to be repaving it this summer between 34th and Hwy 100 along with a new median and a westbound auxiliary lane in a couple locations. As for 35W, the newer plans for the interchange call for a "turbine" design but will likely be tied with the Lakeville BRT project accor...

We have the Graves Hotel that is also on the block so you can't just forget about when it comes down to planning.
The original Met was only a quarter block in size.

Re: Block E

Minneapolis has lost a lot of architectural gems in the last century and I think rebuilding a couple of them on block E would be quite dope. Block E is the de facto epicenter of the city and I think seeing The Metropolitan Building rebuilt in its place would make a worthy fit. If the casino idea has...

Re: IDS Center

I'm not sure, but back when they were on they would always shut off before every other tower which made me think the caretaker was old and cranky. Maybe he retired and never told the new guy where the switch was.
