Re: Gateway Park
An unfortunate aspect about this location is that it is bounded by three very auto-centric roads. You can't really access the park without crossing at least one of them. This area still feels like this... http://www.bikede.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/WalkThisWay.jpg At the Washington Avenue publ...

Re: Urban/Suburban Lifestyle
Interesting article I found online. Haven't had time to read it completely - but speaks to the importance of cities keeping the aging Millennials as they marry and have kids. Highlights - importance of transit, good schools, open space (Oklahoma City is building a 70 acre downtown park?). I think M...

Re: Gateway Park
Good news!Apparently, the city has finally found a way to unencumber the Nicollet Hotel block. This would seem to be a good first step towards getting a park built there.

Gateway Park
Couldn't find a thread for plans for a new park north of the library downtown. Here is a recent editorial piece discussing all the ins and outs of getting a new park built.

Re: Bridges
If you like Minnesota bridges, the definitive website on the subject is this one. Pics of damn near every significant bridge in the area. My favorite is the Arcola High Bridge.
Finally found where this thread was reposted, lol. Thanks for the great link!!

I am just excited about renovations to the Sculpture Garden. I hope they get some new kick ass pieces. Plenty of room for more sculptures.

Re: Downtown Retail News
I am sure I have mentioned it here...but I think H&M is the kind of store that could actually do alright downtown. Maybe with new owners...city center will actually start marketing that high visibility corner space on 7th. If they were actually actively marketing it, I can't imagine it would st...

Re: Downtown Retail News
I feel like Minneapolis could support an Express store. Heck, we had one in Calhoun Square until like one minute before I moved to Minneapolis. They could easily fit in anywhere in the area, the corner spot in Greenleaf even! (ok, that's just me being selfish...plus that would be dangerous for my w...

Re: Downtown Retail News
On the subject of retail as a whole - I wish during the holidays downtown and City Center/Gaviidae would spend a bit more money/effort on making downtown a festive place to be . City Center and Gaviidae could use some different holiday decorations, etc. Also - how about a Holiday Village on Peavey ...

Re: Downtown Retail News
The one that formerly was a shoe/clothing store, with a focus on Bob Marley?Looks like something's happening in that street level space next to Target.
I still wish the storefronts on Lasalle would be leased out, at least for dental offices, etc.

Hamm's Brewery - (713 Minnehaha Avenue)
Don't think there is a separate thread for this, so here is a jumping off point. I believe there were older articles/plans available.

Agreed Fotoapparatic - better if they didn't do it piece meal but all at once. Also wish they'd expand the plans into the 7 Corners area, but I believe 7 Corners may be covered by improvements planned for Cedar Ave./Riverside, etc. with everything going on with the Green Line. I truly hope they don'...

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
I agree with some of the comments on the Star Tribune article - the city can't make up it's mind. One minute it wants Hennepin Avenue to be like Times Square, the next minute "Oh no - that sign is too big and bright...". I would've liked to have seen the new marquee, as well as other build...

Re: City Center
That's the Hennepin Ave. entrance. I actually miss the signage too. At least you knew what the building was. I believe they were taken down during remodeling and when the skyway was built connecting CC to Block E.
