Re: City Center
Anyone hear of any future plans now that City Center has new owners? Hoping they invest some money in exterior improvements and attracting new retail tenants. How about a restaurant at the now bordered up corner entrance off Nicollet?

Re: Mill City Quarter - (300 South 2nd Street)
The site plan (especially option B) is better than I expected. I can envision that being a cool urban space (although I can also envision them botching it up). As for the building design, it could be fun. The reference to Murals is a good one -- I thought that I'd really like that building based on...

Re: Mill City Quarter - (300 South 2nd Street)
Interesting - more modern. Like how the blue ties into the Guthrie. Still, not overly impressed. Was hoping something that would break up the block (blocks?). Any chance they may add a roof top garden/patio? Or at least a green roof would be nice.

Re: Gold Medal Park
I don't know where the Park Board or MN Land Institute stands on this. I'd be happy if they took over (although the park may not receive the same standard of maintenance). Doubtful people in the Mill District would be willing to have the park land redeveloped into condos, etc. It's a huge asset/attr...

Re: North Loop Park
The North Loop Neighborhood Association's website has a link for an online survey to gather feedback about what's important/desired for the new park being planned:

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
Thanks Avian! I love it! I've always thought a park east of the downtown core could help spur further development. I like the idea of turning the armory into a market/indoor market. Then a park north or south could be used for vendors with seasonal produce, crafts, etc.

Bridges
Not exactly sure where this thread should go, but was wondering if anyone else is interested in posting pics of their favorite bridges across the Mississippi in MN? Was thinking it should be limited to the metro area, but open to statewide as well.

Re: Calhoun-Isles Redesign
Love it, but aren't there other areas where a land bridge would be even more beneficial? How about the Lowry Hill Tunnel near Loring Park and the Sculpture Garden? I know there is also a plan to create a land bridge over I-94 that would connect Fairview Park(?) in North Mpls. to the Mississippi.

Re: Downtown Restaurant News
I'm sorry I never made it here before it closed... Thom Pham’s Wondrous Azian Kitchen in downtown Minneapolis has shut its doors, just the latest in a line of closures for the serial restaurateur. http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/news/2012/10/17/pham-wondrous-azian-kitchen-closes.html Sad...se...

Re: Convention Center Hotel - (330 South 12th Street)
Do they have any plans or anything out there? Edit* I found them http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/news/2012/09/07/millennium-hotel-renovation-renderings.html?s=image_gallery They are taking off the amazing retro bronze trim. That is pretty much the best part about the MIllennium. Yes, that pat...

Re: New Target Building - (1001 Nicollet Mall)
I like what they did with the building, and for the most part I like Target as a company and having it's corporate headquarters downtown. What I don't like is the elitist attitude among its workers downtown. Kinda get the feeling of a cultish environment. I agree with earlier comments - its great to...

Re: Nicollet Mall
Not a whole lot of info, but a glimpse of what the city may have in store for Nicollet - curbless, no buses/taxis, a new streetcar, more green.

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
So many of the grand homes around Loring, Washburn Fair Oaks and along Park Ave. have been lost. So sad. Not just in Mpls, though. Even in other large cities.

http://journalmpls.wordpress.com/2012/09/28/journal-obtains-stadium-schematic-images/ Interesting images. I'd love to know how this fits into the neighborhood. Wow! Love both, but am leaning towards the top image. Love the glass. Reminds me of ice - perfect for MN's snowy, icy winters. How about th...

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
@ Min-chi-cbus: I agree safety is always an issue with free public spaces (hence why Mpls. is so behind and hesitant about creating new ones). However, I was thinking that the park could be fenced in/gated, with gates closed locked at 9/10 PM. Chicago has several parks like this and seems to work. A...

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
New idea that would involve improve Hennepin Avenue and create more greenspace. How about doing away with the surface parking for First Baptist Church (1021 Hennepin Avenue) and turning it into a small park? Perhaps a shared investment by the church and the school across the way for the school kids ...

Re: Westminster Church
I am all for new retail/businesses on Nicollet. Like the idea of a Goodwill, etc. as long as it's kept up. Also like the idea of extending the greenway through the block. I still don't get it! I thought the city put a halt to parking lots for new developments. There is plenty of parking. Don't membe...
