Re: Google Maps

According to the desktop version of the Google Earth app, it is from March 11, which was a Friday, but I am seeing nothing but 2-car trains on the light rail lines, so I'm skeptical.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Here's a presentation about improvements to the High Frequency network over the next two years, as well as general service improvements. http://metrocouncil.org/Council-Meetings/Committees/Transportation-Committee/2016/April-11,-2016/2016-Hi-Freq.aspx New additions planned seem to be the the 2, 54 e...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

<SNIP!> Just quoting the picture again. Thought everyone would want to see it ONE MORE TIME. Thanks a lot everyone! With all that picture quoting, it's not a new thing anymore :( Also, too! Regarding new buses mentioned earlier (I'll refrain from quoting the post), I saw what looked like a new styl...

Re: Seattle

The 2 station University Link extension opened yesterday: http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/transportation/capitol-hill-uw-light-rail-stations-open/ Seattle's Light Rail system ridership will probably soon exceed ours, all with 15 stations to our 37. Although they have already spent over $4 b...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Metro Transit route changes for March 19th have been posted: http://www.metrotransit.org/plan-ahead-for-route-changes-on-march-19 (most of the schedule links go to the current schedule as I post this, instead of the future schedule, so details are currently vague) The biggest change is route 11 join...

Re: Samatar Crossing

Additional information about this has been posted on the city website, including a proposed layout. It includes motor vehicle access, with separate bike and pedestrian paths. However, the bike and pedestrian paths combine into a multi-use path over the I-35W bridge due to right-of-way constraints. T...

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project

Nope, it will travel in a one-way loop between the southern two stations. I don't think it was ever proposed to travel on Nicollet Ave, other than to access the station near Heart of the City. This presentation shows the routing, as well as a few other updates: http://www.metrotransit.org/Data/Sites...

Re: MSP Airport

What airlines all fly to Seattle? Any tend to be cheaper? Do they ever get much below $300?
Delta, Alaska and Sun Country. I fly this route about twice a year, and I rarely pay much less than $300. I would say that it is common for Sun Country to be a little cheaper than Delta and Alaska.

Re: MSP Airport

Nice to see competition on what is currently a Delta-only route. Alaska is launching service to PDX next month operated by SkyWest on an ERJ-175. Delta will still dominate of course, as the Sun Country flight will not be quite daily, and Alaska isn't on a mainline aircraft. It would have been nice t...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Have they revealed the opening date for the A Line yet? Or even the opening month? I would say the June service change is a good bet. In the Work Plan posted above, there are 2 items listed in May: "A Line Marketing Campaign and Launch Events Bruce Howard" "(Date TBD – prior to A Lin...

American Airlines is beefing up its LAX hub, including launching 2x daily service to MSP. I haven't seen whether they will be mainline or American Eagle flights yet. American previously announced starting MSP-LGA and MSP-DCA this year as well.

Re: MSP Airport

I would have seen it if it had come in a little earlier. I flew into Terminal 2 around 6:30. Looks like it departed just before midnight, a pretty long time on the ground for a diversion.

Re: MSP Airport

Are they taking more international flights from MSP, or is something else causing the 747's to disappear? Delta has not canceled any major international flights since the merger, and have recently announced Rome and Reykjavik for next summer. The 747s are just getting retired, as others have said. ...

Re: MSP Airport

I have to assume that Sun Country adding service to Denver has more to do with appeasing their core customer base (which anecdotally is pretty loyal) than it is about making money. That route is brutally competitive -- with Sun Country, you'll have five carriers flying nonstop. Actually, there will...

Re: MSP Airport

It is weird. Apparently, traffic at KEF has been growing at a very high rate, however. On airliners.net, someone mentioned that traffic is up something like 25% over last year, and there are a bunch of other new flights launching next year. So it could be that Iceland is growing as a tourist attract...
