Re: Lake & Nicollet Redevelopment (Kmart site)
I wish this happened a few years ago given that this boom may be fading a bit. I'll be okay with reopening the street and setting high expectations for an RFP and waiting even until the next boom if we have to given how valuable this location is.

Now that the store is toast...did anyone check to see if the bridge over the Greenway is toast like many of it's peers? Really hoping for something exciting to be built here.

I run along here often, sometimes I feel like I'm out running the cars. Theo Wirth Parkway is also getting more traffic with all of the improvements to the park.

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
Does anyone know what the story is with Theodore Wirth Parkway? It's beginning to look like the moon even outside the Trailhead where the city is hosting and international ski event in a couple weekends. Who has jurisdiction over it? Given that it's a Mpls Parkway in Golden Valley and etc?

I'm just glad it's going to be active. Having this vacant with the LRT station and Nicollet right there looks bad. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the nearby smaller convivence stores hurt a bit. Personally it might be neat to put artwork on the cement medians for the LRT.

It's ironic they're holding a job fair for construction jobs across the street from defunct Thor. I'm wondering how many issues they're going to have recruiting workers? "Lunda Construction Company and C.S. McCrossan Joint Venture (LMJV), along with their subcontractors, community-based organiz...

Is there some sort of classification distinguishing dense neighborhoods for statistical purposes? Seems like we're getting a number of additional almost Downtown like areas such as North East Mpls, U of M and of course Downtown St Paul. It would be nice to compare and contrast them over time.

Re: Root District - Farmers Market / Royalston Station
If it’s a photo studio, I don’t see why that couldn’t be incorporated into a new development. I would imagine that the price of the land has skyrocketed since Southwest light rail is going through. It seems like such an awful use of land that is extremely close to the light rail station. Sent from ...

I agree, the economics lacking to go higher? I see they are using light gauge steel isn't that capable of greater heights? Portland Tower still has ads begging people to move in.

Re: Root District - Farmers Market / Royalston Station
Target has their photo studio there according to Google. There is also what appears to be maybe a financial services business. I'm not sure Target is going to want to really give this up. Then there are some misc small businesses and the city's traffic control division. I noticed this week that the ...

35W would make a lovely seasonal canal every Spring. We could water ski and everything. Form a festival around it.

I found it interesting that within the Strib article below they state that MnDot is spending $68 million on stormwater. Motorists passing by the construction probably don't realize that part of what is going on is spending money to protect the highway from climate change. http://www.startribune.com/...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
It's probably best to just put it on W. Broadway. Do a parking study and probably find out they'll be fine with parking on the cross streets. A lot of the congestion is people passing through and they can either find another route to the NW Metro (55, 100, 94) or get on the LRT. Treat the businesses...

Updated plans, I also believe projects like this highlight how badly we need better transit in this area.

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
I remain deeply skeptical that you could run LRT down Broadway without making it a worse street than it currently is, or at least without locking in its current deep hostility to people walking. As great as the Green Line is, the University Ave that came out of it just isn't a good street for how w...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
They're replacing the bridges at W. Broadway/Theo Wirth/Bottineau/Victory Drive at the cost of $50 Million. As far as I know there aren't any plans to make these LRT ready? Lyndale to Lowry to Bottineau would be easier, less population up there however the area could densify. It is also well connect...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
I'm wondering if this would be just better with BRT? I don't see the advantages of LRT once you go with a different more expensive route. There really isn't a ton of density along this route and it is pretty car-centric, but not as congested as the roadways near the SWLRT. This is putting things in...

Is there anyway to confirm that people are buying these units to live in as opposed to money storage. While I don’t think this is necessarily that case, it’s still a concern in the back of my mind. Personally, I'm curious about how many are truly, 100% sold, as opposed to someone putting a deposit ...
