Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)
So no one has really posted a photo of the bridge yet? Sweet. Here you go you out-of-towners. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7588/27106327076_7dc295be69_b.jpg US Bank Stadium pedestrian bridge 5-20-16 by Matt Bappe , on Flickr Great pics! I notice large white styrofoam blocks (I know there is a mor...

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)
I get that but I also think that if the LRT is as successful as it is (reasonably) projected to be, on top of expanding the office and residential stock, at some point that point will have to be reconsidered at increasing costs.A: $$$$

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)
If anything, the massive excavation of the Vikings stadium (and the massive excavation of the Target Field area a decade ago) would have been a major opportunity to grade and preserve transit portals at each end of downtown for a future underground tunnel. I would have picked 6th St, since it's clo...

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development
Could you just stop it? Or maybe read some of the rest of the threads? Projects stop and go and get delayed all the time, most of which have nothing to do with the Attila's. And right now, it looks like the Ryan project isn't going, so the Attila's might get another shot. If they get it, what will ...

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development
No argument on the the point that Ryan has very likely dropped this from their priority list... And not arguing that Ryan has clearly not developed this with any urgency... Not sure if the details on the full development contract articulates a clear "exit" and agreement "dissolution&...

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development
The development rights were awarded... that is a legally binding agreement. It has "reasonable and justifiable" extension clauses built in... This is very standard in municipalities granting development rights. City or County property has many checks and balances built in to ensure that t...

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
this threat is such a bitch fest. we're getting two narrowed streets, wide sidewalks, a nice park space. arches are ugly eh? local artist designed them. i think the're nice. guess everybody's a critic. LOL - not an issue I'd fall on my sword for, just an observation. As its already built, its not g...

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development
That would be the front portion of the "air-rights" to the ramp. From this August StarTribune article (http://www.startribune.com/plan-calls-for-360-apartments-above-downtown-east-parking-ramp/273268911/) Ryan agreed to pay $5.6 million for the air rights but, upon realizing, as Ryan itsel...

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development
All caught up except that, as reporting turned out, the Ryan plan never extended beyond the preliminary stages of rounding up partners, who never came on board and walked away as opposed to the Mortensen / Viking plan that was actually ready to go. In the same BizJournal article, there was the more ...

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development
I won't beat a dead horse but, a year back when it was clear that Ryan could not convert on its plan to develop the air-rights, the Vikings came forward with a request to re-open bidding in circumstances where they had an actual proposal, design, and contractor (M.A. Mortensen) ready to go. They eve...

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
I guess the arches are "art" in the same way Peavy Plaza is (a poured win place monstrosity), and if it sticks around long enough, it too will become a registered landmark. It's just plain ugly and out of place (even when in front of the Metrodome). No matter what city you are in, governme...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
Media mesh looks like crap anyways. That's what the Twins have at Target Field and it's called the Twins tower or something like that. It's located in the outfield in right field next to the parking ramp and there's a clock on top. Not a good look IMO. There are levels of quality of mesh. If you go...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
It is Minneapolis Moda... We are not used to "bait and switch" UPGRADES around here. Usually it's downgraded materials, etc. when changes occur. Fully Agree. I have no problem with MediaMesh, but a full HD LED board is a qualitative upgrade from the Mesh. What surprises me is that they do...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
The full brightness is just for testing. It'll have different settings depending on the time of day and possibly even for the weather (full sun or overcast). But it's fun to know that the entire park can be lit from a single source of light. Haha. I think they announced that it was going to go thro...

Re: Downtown East - Wells Fargo / Radisson Red / Edition Apts
I don't know. Setting aside the lingering quasi-governmental functions neighborhoods have, neighborhoods exist to help identify and brand an area. Just as there's little real value in dividing up very similar areas into different names (pop quiz: draw the boundaries of Longfellow, Cooper, and Howe ...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
I'm assuming it was on their building and since they've moved closer to the core and also their building doesn't exist anymore... It wasn't on their building, it was live up until today. Edit: It's actually still live: http://www.workzonecam.com/projects/startribune/startribune/workzonecam Thanks! ...

Re: Ironclad Apartments & Moxy Hotel - Washington & Chicago
I have never heard of this zone before that grants the Vikings exclusive rights. Plus, the Well Fargo buildings were under construction way before US Bank got the naming rights. You might as well just say that the Vikings should have gone with a non-competitive company to buy its naming rights. Tha...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
Grant, I would bite but you take just too many good high quality pictures to get into a dust up. The link to the Star Tribune webcam is no longer even recognized by the Startrib. Does anyone know whether it was permanently pulled or simply down for servicing? I ask because they are putting the "...

Re: Ironclad Apartments & Moxy Hotel - Washington & Chicago
As Sam Black notes, could this be another stadium blimp-view photobomb? Check the logo on the rooftop. https://twitter.com/mspbjsamblack/status/723558029627551746 Not that there is a damn thing wrong with it, anyway! There may not be anything wrong with it for two reasons. First, the hotel may be o...
