Re: Hiawatha-Lake - Minnehaha - Downtown Longfellow

Ah, yes! That's right. County records show "2500 E Lake" as the whole Target property + parking lot. Everlake across Minnehaha is 189 units, so I could see how two 5/1 buildings of ~150 units each pushed against Minnehaha and Lake would essentially eat up 60% of the parking lot. One fatter...

Re: DTE: Wells Fargo, Radisson Red, Edition Apts & Millwright Building

The new Hennepin ME facility in Minnetonka recently opened. Not sure what or if the county has anything planned for the old building. I vaguely remember discussion about possibly selling to the Wilfs or MSFA, but that might have just been a passing note in an article and not an actual plan in the wo...

Re: Future of the forum

Thank you, yeah that's more what I was getting at. I just started going to SSC recently so I found it noteworthy. It's all so silly so I don't get this level of passion outside of the nerdy built environment stuff we're here for. Some of the opinions expressed there can be cringeworthy or cross the ...

What's the deal with SSC? More activity, and people on there refer to (I assume) this forum as "That site." Is there some sort of MSP urbanist forum posting beef I missed over the years? Last controversy I remember is RetiredBanker

Re: Minnesota Governor Election 2022

All of the senate districts in Minneapolis and St. Paul (and most, if not almost all of the metro) have gone with "contactless caucuses" this year. It involves filling out a form and sending it in, along with resolutions if you want. You can find out details for your area here: https://dfl...

What do MNDOT plowers do when it's not snowing? What do Richfield public works employees do when it's not snowing? What do Minneapolis public works employees do when it's not snowing?

Re: Civilian Shoveling Corps

I'm just wondering if there's a app that lets people request someone to shovel since hiring someone with a plow can be expensive for just a driveway and pretty much useless for a sidewalk and it seems a bit antiquated to relay on a friendly neighborhood with a blower or a kid who would jump at the ...

The expensive tunnel is key to making this part of the riverfront trail work and a worthwhile investment. Meanwhile Boom Island needs some basic repairs to the shelters like tuckpointing. Those chimneys are in scary shape.

Re: RBC Gateway (Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 519'

It's not the most amazing thing ever but I think the tower is better executed than the lower levels. As others mentioned I think the glass on the tower looks nicer than older curtain wall type structures. The mechanical penthouse is kinda meh. The details on the lower levels look chintzy and plastic...

Hey cool, Seward Redesign is going to take over the US Bank branch damaged in the uprising. I knew US Bank was moving to the Tim Horton's space to allow this property to redevelop but great to hear they got the right developer for the site. Looks like nothing solid yet beyond the idea of affordable ...

Re: MPHA Family Housing Expansion

Does anyone know much about the Faircloth Amendment that says public housing authorities can't have more units than their max as of 1999? I know the MPHA has to create nonprofits for all these renovations/builds to get financing, but wonder if it's also to comply with Faircloth? Or maybe because it'...

Re: L&H Station - Hennepin County - Minneapolis Public Schools site

The fenced off staging area (where the third building would go) is being emptied out and the desire path from 31st to the light rail station is no longer blocked off. This leads me to believe construction is done and they won't be breaking ground on the next building for now.
