Re: Uptown General Topics & Development Map
Sean, it said he will be using tax credits and thus the capped, affordable rents. This may be similar to their Mill City Quarter project.

Re: Uptown General Topics & Development Map
When I was renting 10 years ago in Uptown, one month's rent was normal. In Seattle, where rent is crazy expensive (not unlike this unit), a security deposit of $1,000 to $1,500 is more common. But I do see plenty of one-month SDs here too, which is insane. A better comparison is the University of Mi...

Re: Stadium Village 26-Story Tower (Harbor Bay Real Estate)
Just looked at the plans. I'm curious to how the bike parking on the upper floors of the parking garage will work. With each floor all the way up to 6th or so having a bike storage room accessible from the parking garage and interior hallway, they're either going to have folks biking down the garage...

Re: MN-121 "Lyndale Connector" Turnback and Redevelopment
Given that I used to work for Community Works, I'd going to keep some distance on whether CW should be the lead or not. One question would be why should HC be the lead if Minneapolis isn't making it a priority? While part of it is the terminus of a county road, CW is as much about partnerships as it...

Re: Fantasy maps
^ just in general, I'd suggest merging the downtown alignments of your yellow and orange for two reasons: tunnels are expensive and tunnel stations are expensive as heck. it also would better serve those coming to downtown locations. you may have too many stations on some of the lines relative to th...

Pretty sure Doran built Calhoun Commons across the street. FYI. That said, he was also involved in Bridges.

Re: The Lakes Residences - 2622 West Lake Street
There were concepts from the park board that called for connecting that park space to the south and north using a land bridge and making better connections to Lake of the Isles, Lake Calhoun, and the Midtown Greenway.

Midtown rail alignment that interlines with SWLRT and runs to Hopkins or splits and terminates at Excelsior and Grand area serving the medical center and the redevelopment taking place in that area, though E&G has terrible bus service now. On the east side, it should run down East Lake/Marshall ...

^ It looks like the back corridor on the first floor connects to the outside without any stairs. Didn't look like there were stairs outside on the backside, but I may have missed it.

Re: Revel / Target Store- 1300 West Lake St
I'm not sure why Target wouldn't want to open around the same time. It may be the result of Target "wanting" to open in October for some corporate reason but more than likely, I would assume it has more to do with when the space can be ready. That commercial space will be "delivered&...

Re: Nice Ride Minnesota
IMHO, Nice Ride MN is well run and financially solvent. The city of Seattle taking over Pronto is because their non-profit wasn't solvent and the system was about to shut down. Cities have resources and clear accountability, but they are not very nimble and have a harder time creating partnerships. ...

Re: Uptown Hotel Discussion
Zoning that is more rigid is better than a flexible plan. Move the fight to planning processes that then result in zoning changes that set expectations. Less fighting on individual projects as more is allowed as of right. Let the plan, which sets many peoples' expectations anyways actually have some...

Re: Uptown General Topics & Development Map
To be fair, you can pick up a 3 BR house in Lyndale neighborhood for far less than $450k. At the end of 2014, there were decent condition 3BR houses for upper $200k's within a 10 minute walk of Lyn-Lake. Plenty of more expensive houses too. While not a huge supply of those, it is within reach of mid...

Re: Uptown Hotel Discussion

The plan would support aspects of the project, such as increasing density, being located against the street, using distr...

holy buckets those setbacks are small. Is it really proposing 0' setback for residential units on the upper floors? Also surprised they are trying to have the semi's use the alley for access, which sometimes is a big ask for blocks where there is residential uses on it. I wouldn't be surprised if th...

Re: Uptown Hotel Discussion
I think homeowners vs renter perspectives often are proxy for other issues. For example, in my stint on the CARAG board around 2005, a large percentage of home owners who spoke at meetings tended to be against certain business license proposals or development proposals with a lot more comments about...

Most interesting part of the presentation: apparently CR81 is a house moving route and needs to maintain a certain vertical clearance of these potential bridges. Is there a map of house moving routes in the TC? Makes sense that they exist but never really thought about designated routes.
