Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
The Government Accountability Office will be investigating why US transit projects, most notably subways, cost so much more than those in other developed nations. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/28/nyregion/new-york-subway-construction-costs-congress.html since the mentioned the 2nd avenue subway I...

Re: C Line - Penn Avenue North Arterial Rapid Bus
How about Option D - add 2 or 3 more stations to the C Line and just get of the 19 entirely? Maybe that's too abrupt for Day One of service, but it seems like a reasonable long-term goal. I'd think after a few years of service, it would be pretty easy to identify which (if any) of the local stops a...

Plus, I have a feeling the NFL does not want to put such an enormous amount of effort into logistics and security again. They’d probably much rather stick to suburban locations here on out.

Re: D Line - Fremont/Emerson/Chicago Rapid Bus
That seems a bit simplistic. I’m sure it contributed, but the ridership at Chicago & 48th is decently smaller than 46th. And if they’re going to avoid other transit-supportive notes because the ridership doesn’t justify them, why should this be an exception?

Re: D Line - Fremont/Emerson/Chicago Rapid Bus
The draft station plan has been released! Since this is the part most of you are interested in, here's the project team's reasoning for not including a station at Chicago & 48th St. This station plan does not include a station at Chicago and 48th Street. The 2012 Arterial Transitway Corridor Stu...

The skyways along Nicollet are PACKED tonight. Lots of traffic but not a lot of retailers open to take advantage of it.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
Just got a message from my landlord (Nic on Fifth) with their parking prices/restrictions for the Super Bowl. I wonder if other ramps will be similar. Dear Nic Residents, During the Super Bowl Live Events beginning this Friday, January 26th and extending through Super Bowl Sunday the hours and price...

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project
So for the first year-plus it's potentially just going to skip straight from 46th to Downtown? It's like they're actively hostile to anyone using this thing for a purpose other than getting from a Park and Ride in Bloomington to Downtown. That’s why they slowed down the ride from the park and ride ...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Governor’s proposed bonding bill includes $50 million for a “Busway, Bus Guideway and Express Bus Development Program” for the metro. Anyone know any details about this? Edit: Did some googling and it looks like it would support design/ROW acquisition/construction of the D Line, design/ ROW acquisit...

Re: Westminster Church
My bus passes by this every day (well, for the few weeks they were on Nicollet again). I really like the look of it. It feels welcoming and a big improvement over the office building that was there. Yup, always an improvement tearing down small towers and putting up 1.5 floor buildings. Maybe we sh...

Re: Nic on Fifth - (290' - 26 Stories)
The parking you can see from the skyway is contract parking. The resident parking is on levels 3-5 and isn’t accessible to non-residents. So maybe it’s that there aren’t very many contract parkers?

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
If buses can be rerouted and the travel time is less or the same as Nicollet Mall then I fully support a pedestrian-only Nicollet Mall (as long as people can still bike through there). Considering buses go 15 miles per hour maximum on that stretch it probably wouldn't be too difficult. I wonder how...

I also heard from one of their staff they’re getting close to landing another ground-floor tenant.I walked through the Skyway today. It looks like a couple retail spaces on the second floor are being built out.

Fair point.True enough, but MT just shouldn't move the buses back to Nicollet until the Super Bowl's done. It isn't worth it.

So, while we thought that the light rail closure was bad... Metro Transit buses will return to the Nicollet Mall on Dec. 2 only to be rerouted back to Hennepin for a month for the Super Bowl http://www.startribune.com/metro-transit-buses-to-return-to-nicollet-mall-dec-2-for-a-bit/458052503/ This is...

Re: Labeling the Transit System
From what I can work out, the general rule of thump for the current system seems to be METRO (plus color): -stations are spaced farther apart on average -has personal ROW on some sections (believe the Red line still kinda counts since unless I'm totally wrong it has a very small ROW only it uses at...

About a dozen or so "protesters" were out around noon at Hennepin and 26th. They were carrying signs that said "Mafia Lane" and "Suck it Bike Lane". Of course Channel 5 came and gave them air time. Bike lane celebration slow-roll starts at 3pm at 26th & Lyndale (me...
