Obviously, neither the Met Council nor the City of Minneapolis want to come out and say all the construction headaches and $ are to appease the NFL ...No mention of the Super Bowl here, just of improvements which obviously help transport people during the Superbowl.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Does anyone have experience with similar LRT or streetcar systems in other cities? Is this amount of shutdown time common or an anomaly Anomaly - EVERYTHING being done is for the Super Bowl. The NFL will not allow the trains to use U.S. Bank Stadium Station due to security concerns so downtown had ...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
First of all, it was a joke, hence the winking face. second I was linking the previous conversion and information about the project. third I know the user well enough to tease. It was literally a joke about how strict some people are about the organization of the threads. Oh OK, makes sense then. G...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
This is the 'general topics' thread... Why all the grief on the forums lately. Very off putting. If you want to turn people away from this site, this is the way to do it.

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
I'm hoping as well that they just use the same LRVs on Riverview, but just one or two car trains. Much easier operationally and establishes commonality in the light rail fleet. Although I wonder if the trains on Riverview will require flashing hazards and turn signals as I've seen on other tram/str...

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
I can't picture how this gets to DT StP. Can anyone post a map of the suggested route? What about something like this? The pink link to the Blue Line might make the most sense, but the salmon routing over to St. Paul could be an alignment option https://drive.google.com/open?id=11DK8-MvJrbesAs7_S-w...

Re: C Line - Arterial Rapid Bus & Penn Ave Community Works Project
Caught a glimpse of one of the new C Line articulated bus going Southbound on 35W last week near the UofM operating as a route 250! Was driving, so no picture... I work for MT, we have one articulated bus painted like an A Line(aBRT) because we were going to run it for the state fair, but due to co...

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
West Broadway streetcar is really promising for development near downtown along the river, the BRT less so though for development. 46th Street station really hasn't spurred any development, plus something on 94 wouldn't address the needed connection to riverfront development. If the upper harbor pro...

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
Convinced Minneapolis should look to redevelop our North Riverfront with a transit line to spur growth. Think tech (Amazon?), Heath Care (Mayo Clinic?), Academia (UofM?), and housing. It worked in Portland http://www.portlandbridges.com/portland-neighborhoods/00-South%20Waterfront.html https://drive...

Re: Transitways in other Minnesota cities?
This is great Tiller! My rationale was not completely hashed out in my post, but as you point out- frequency, slope, UMD service and rail corridor right of way factored into my proposed route. Connection to the airport after a St. Scholastica stop could also be achieved fairly easily if that was als...

Re: Transitways in other Minnesota cities?
Here's my Duluth routing idea with phasing, primarily meant to serve the transit-reliant West Duluth. Duluth has potential to be the next 'Portland' or 'Seattle' type city, it's just missing transit. When and if Northern Lights Express happens, connecting a system to this could help the city immense...

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System
The fact that the new Xcel building lacks any retail presence whatsoever on our pedestrian/transit mall has more of an impact than the fact that the building is skyway connected. The other problem with the Xcel building is they don't follow the Skyway hours. The street access has always been locked...
