Re: Fountain Residential - (2635 Fourth Street Southeast)
This is on the Planning Commission agenda for next week. Apparently, it's just called The Station on 4th now. And it looks like it'll be getting full approval. I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised with the renderings on this.

Calhoun-Isles Redesign
Thought I'd get this kicked off with a couple of articles. It looks like the park board is shooting for the stars with a major overhaul of the area between these two lakes, where Lake Street passes. There have been community forums, and designers have put forth some interesting concepts. Obviously a...

Article from F&C with some interesting development tidbits. I remember someone was mentioning the Old Home building earlier, though it might have been in another thread.

Re: Transit News and Happenings
Phil's experience might not be typical of the bus system as a whole, but as someone who used to take the 17 and 18 on a regular basis, it's definitely the norm for Nicollet Mall. The bus congestion and delays on that street are a mess. However, most of the system suffers from illogical routing, sche...

That I know of, one is up at Track 29, and at least three are up at the U, for the new physics building and residence hall. There's also one or two at Mill and Main.

Re: Capella Tower & LaSalle Plaza
Minneapolis has garnered a reputation in the last number of years as one of the "gayest cities in the country," so that has become a part of our identity, to an extent. Additionally, the 35W bridge is lit up in a rainbow for both Pride and National Coming Out Day. It's pretty cool to see- ...

Didn't see a thread for this abomination, so I thought I'd start one with this news:

Hopefully this increases the chances of a renovation, but I'm not holding my breath.

Re: The 155 - (155 University Avenue Southeast)
I'm guessing that the building looks the way it does because of the parking ramp mentioned in the summary of the building. On one level, it's actually kind of smart- they put a multi-story ramp on the bottom of the building in order to boost up the residential units and give them a nicer view. Grant...

Target Campus - Brooklyn Park
While I know this development isn't something many (if any) of us are thrilled about, I guess its progress is worth keeping track of. I saw my dad yesterday, who lives fairly close to the site, and he said that utility relocation and preparation work appears to be well underway for the expansion. Gi...

Very nice! For such a (relatively) small addition, it sure adds a lot of character to one of the less attractive buildings on campus.

Re: Lowry Avenue Bridge
I don't know for sure, but I have a theory: Up until the early 80's, I think, I-94 only went as far north as the Dowling exit and entrance ramps. I don't know why they chose to end it at this point, but I suspect that those ramps are too close to the Camden and Lowry bridges to make adding ramps the...

According to a Strib article, Republic will be opening a second location in the old Independent space later this year! I'd throw in a link, but I'm on my phone. Regardless, great news as far as I'm concerned.
