Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
The Y would not move into a location without a pool. Would not happen, ever. I'm sure they've had engineers assess the viability of a pool. If if can't support a pool, they wouldn't be looking at this location. The downtown Y is bustling. They have a daycare (ground level), offices (2nd level), and ...

Re: Eat Street
Excited to finally see this happen. Last summer they started bringing materials on-site and a lot of the windows were boarded up. Figured they were just doing a renovation; had no idea they were going to add some floors. Should be a nice addition to the neighborhood.

Re: 700 Central Avenue Northeast Apartments
http://www.rejournals.com/2015/12/15/dougherty-mortgage-closes-15-million-loan-for-apartment-project-in-minneapolis/ I found this interesting: "Target residents will be those with incomes ranging between $50,000 and $60,000 a year." Any thoughts on what rents will be based on that guidanc...

Re: Motiv Apartments - 2320 Colfax Avenue S
I don't think the rents are out of line. I live in the Wedge, in a 1930s era apartment complex. No AC, no dishwasher, no in-unit laundry. No gym, no pool, no rooftop deck. Some things are in need of sprucing up. And, it isn't in as desirable/convenient of a location as Motiv. Despite that, my manage...

Re: Downtown East - Wells Fargo / Radisson Red / Edition Apt
I'll have to get a picture after work, but the "Wells Fargo" logo is now installed on on west tower (along 5th ave). It's huge, classy, wonderful.

Re: City Center
Anyone stop in Sports Authority? Yeah; pretty happy with how it turned out. Quality, large signage really makes a difference on the exterior. The store itself was clean and well organized. Not sure if this was the case before, but the ceiling is exposed (similar to how it is in Marshalls). Merchand...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Walked in on Friday and was definitely not impressed. Several of my friends who went along for the walk commented on how they seemed to take everything that would normally fit on one floor and spread it out across two. The lack of color and sterile/fluorescent-light feel was definitely off-putting....

Re: 113 East 26th Street
Wonderful! I've been in the neighborhood 5 years now, and while there have been a lot of changes on Nicollet (Eat Street Social, Ice House, etc.), there hasn't been any new construction. Also excited to see commercial activity creep along 26th (although I still hate the rehab they did to the buildin...

Re: Eat Street
According to City Pages, Pimento Jamaican Grill (currently only location is in Burnsville Center) will be opening a second location, somewhere on Eat Street. No specifics are known yet. http://pimentogrille.com/ Oh, that's exciting. I live in the neighborhood, and there isn't much vacancy on Nicoll...

I think we will see job gains in other areas at Target, negating most of these cuts. I doubt there will be a net job loss for target hq in 2-4 years.
Also, talking with friends that work at target, this overhaul is long overdue. Short term this sucks, but it's for the best.

You can see some of the glass siding from the stone arch bridge now. I'm really impressed by the presence this project has, particularly from the bridge.

Demolition has begun. I drove by today on my way home from work and noticed that the old building has been completely demolished. They are moving quickly on this one.

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
The reason I would like to see a view from Washington is that I've got a feeling this is going to look like a 2 block long 15 - 20 story wall. In effect, closing off downtown from the Guthrie area. It looks like there are plazas/pathways between the buildings and the parking ramp. As long as Park a...

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
wow, this is really bold. I share concerns about closing off Park and Portland; they are major arteries. But, it is hard for me to hate on a large scale park. It will be interesting to see what happens as a result. I think 3rd, 4th, and 5th Aves, as well as Washington, will suffer big time. Perhaps...

I'm not wowed but not really disappointed. Was expecting a more playful design based off the conceptual renderings. This thing is going to be massive though!

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)
Tower on the north end is now clearly visible/framed-up. The brick looks good close up, but the other materials look very cheap. Very strong presence on Hennepin, however. You can see the tower from the gold medal park area. Pretty neat.

I sure hope all the new construction slows rent increases. Rent went up $50 last year and going up $75 this year. Considering that there are slim pickings for similar apartments (especially at a lower cost), I'm staying put.

Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
Once the podium part is built, I wonder how quick each floor will go up. One every 2 weeks?Went by the LPM site this morning and they were pouring the 2nd floor ceiling/3 floor flooring concrete. Can't wait until they get above the parking structure and things really get moving!
