Re: Arby’s Island

I think they replaced the sign for the one on University and Fairview. There's still one on Snelling just south of County B in Roseville, though. Right on the A Line. :)

Re: Fiber Internet and TV Services, Cord Cutting

Looks like Starry (from the founders of Aereo) will be launching wireless internet service sometime this year in parts of Minneapolis (or, at least, the Minneapolis "market.")

Re: Amtrak Empire Builder and Intercity Rail to Chicago

High-speed rail study halted. Not sure if this also impacts the study for a second daily train, but wouldn't be surprised if it does.

Re: Fiber Internet and TV Services, Cord Cutting

I have CenturyLink DSL - have the 40Mbps/20Mbps package (paid an extra $5 to upgrade the upload side.) I got a good deal signing a one year contract, but not sure if they offer that sort of promotion anymore now that they've switched to the "price for life" model. That being said, I've fou...

Ballot petition regarding Ford Site zoning tossed out. Neighbors for a "livable" Saint Paul considering court options. http://www.twincities.com/2017/12/06/st-paul-city-council-tosses-ballot-petition-aimed-at-undoing-ford-site-zoning/?utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_medium=Social&utm_sour...

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)

This is kind of getting really off topic... but my two cents is that anything that is greater than Hi- Frequency should be part of the METRO system and have a color.
As long as we can also demote any line that isn't high-frequency out of the METRO system (*cough*red line*cough*)

Re: Minneapolis Mayoral Election 2017

I think that paper ballots with electronic counting (with random manual audits to ensure accuracy) is the best of both worlds. It'd take a lot for me to be comfortable with electronic voting, and the current implementations in other states makes me say no to bringing it here with any permutation of ...

Re: Minneapolis Mayoral Election 2017

Yeah, the exact number of combinations doesn't really matter. You could pretty much keep the ranking of voters in some sort of table or entry from first to sixth (or whatever) and once the first choice drops out, push their other ranks "ahead" so the "first choice" vote is actual...

Re: 2017 St. Paul Mayoral Election

The police federation mailer didn't make a huge difference in how I voted, but Harris was already well down on the list anyways (we could rank up to six spots, and I made full use of that despite there only really being three strong frontrunners.) I'm a bit surprised Thao did as poorly as he did on ...

Re: 2017 St. Paul Mayoral Election

Honestly, I'm most surprised that Carter had more first-choice votes in a lot of the Ward 4 precincts than Harris. That, above all else, seems to tell me that the Ford Plan either is supported or just wasn't the deciding factor for a lot of people in that neighborhood.

Re: Amazon's New HQ?

It's cool how new residents won't need any services from the state. The math above assumes that 35% of the additional tax revenue would be used to pay for increased spending needed due to the additional people. That's probably not too far off; assuming there aren't too many workers making significa...

Do they ever run just one car outside of the night shuttle between the two airport terminals? (I think, though I'm not 100% sure, that the airport shuttle uses just one car. It's been a while since I've been down there when it's operating, though.)

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map

I've finally remembered my password. I'd like to make a suggestion if I may. For simplicity's sake, I suggest using the same line color for aBRT and regular bus routes. Functionally, aBRT isn't any different from the hi frequency network. You may also want to use different line thicknesses to show ...

The rush hour card is kinda covered by the 10-ride pass option and the monthly card idea is already covered with the 31-day pass product. Both of these can be loaded onto any standard Go-To card along with stored value. There may be some help in advertising the existing products more, but I don't se...

Re: A Line - Arterial Rapid Bus

It was standing room only on my ride from Snelling/University to the State Fair. They've moved the stop to Midway Parkway/Dan Patch for the fair, although the bus we were on used the ramps anyways to bypass traffic. On the way home we actually took an "84X" home. It seems to be a route tha...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

The 3A/B seems really drastic to me. Is the ridership that low that it can't support every half-hour per branch on Saturdays in St. Paul? I'd almost justify the half-hour frequency as a minimum baseline for coverage service, especially in St. Paul. Most of the other St. Paul-side changes (which seem...

Re: Ford Twin Cities Assembly Plant Redevelopment

"this is the neighborhood that elects mayors" Well I didn't have a strong feeling one way or another about the St. Paul mayoral race, but I certainly want Ward 1 to come out in droves to turn the tide to Thao now. What a repulsive sentiment. I'm half-tempted to vote for Thao (or, really, ...

It's signed throughout much of western Minnesota as Floyd B. Olson Memorial Highway as well. Google Street View doesn't have any great pictures of it, but when I drive through there I see it signed occasionally as that as well.

Shitty/nonexistent climate control during the summer gets to be just unbearable. Yep, lying here in bed with my wife with only a fan at the moment and the heat is awful.
