Re: Purple Line BRT (Rush Line Corridor)
The City of Maplewood is hosting an engagement meeting about the Purple Line and the city's recommendations about it tonight. This is the latest in a series of meetings that have given platforms to Met Council/Metro Transit and various groups within the city that support or oppose the project. https...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
I remember bringing up extending the bridge to provide a connection between Penn and Kenwood at a public meeting over a decade ago and people that lived on the Kenwood side did not like that idea. It's a terrific idea though, especially because it could actually provide a bike/walk advantage over dr...

That would make sense to add more amenities. I would imagine that all three of the nearby lakes are going to get an influx of visitors due to the proximity of the light rail.

My guess would be Osseo to 45th/Lake Dr to France to Hwy 100 to Brooklyn Blvd, while the 5 can follow a route similar to the 22A along 51st.

Minor route changes coming March 18th. Mostly trip timing adjustments. The only major change seems to be the elimination of the route 7 branch to the VA Hospital.

I think the Maple Grove is included in Metro Transit figures, as they operate the express service under contract.

Wow, crazy to be able to view the old Minnescraper forums. I found it in middle school after I moved to the suburbs - really helped to keep tabs on everything that was going on. Although there was one point where the only thing under construction was the Dinkydome redevelopment.

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
With a tunnel, the number of stops would probably be cut to only two or three in the downtown area. The trains would run faster but people would also have to walk further. It probably wouldn't be a big time saver. Nicollet Mall needs some kind of expansion - too bad the Gaviidae Commons building has...

Re: Amtrak Empire Builder and TCMC
It seems to me that the intra-state corridors will have the most political support. The big problem in the Midwest is that there isn't a good bloc of passenger-rail friendly states. If MN, WI, IL, IN, MI, and OH had the same level of support a pretty good network could be put together. Winnipeg seem...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
There's a page on the city's website for the 10th St N bus lane. It looks like it's converting the third lane that starts at Twins Way to a bus lane until Currie Ave, where the buses turn left into the 7th St Transit Center. It feels like more of a "bus lane visibility" project than one th...

The Hospital Ramp at 8th & Chicago is quite old and probably is going to need a lot of maintenance to keep it up.
Interesting that they are reducing the number of spaces, their ramps seem to be very busy.

The last I heard is that the new bus garage will open in March 2023. Concurrently, Ruter Garage in Brooklyn Park will close but Metro Transit will maintain it while they figure out future service and facility plans. My one concern with the December schedule is that some routes will only have one bus...

Most people in poverty, like everyone else, pay for what they need. Reactions like locked goods and employment of entire loss prevention teams is a clear indicator that the issue is larger than a few tubes of toothpaste going missing every day.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
I would imagine the problem is organized retail theft and reselling as opposed to a homeless guy wanting to brush his teeth. When millions of dollars of theft are occuring nationally, it's not surprising that corporations start locking things down.
