Re: Nicollet Residences - (455 Nicollet Mall)
PS. I am all for condos....but about the last post, depends on the apartment building. I have lived in the same 5 unit building near Henn and 34th for 10 years, the building has a pretty low turnover, so I usually know all the neighbors...we invite eachother to parties sometimes and so on. On the ot...

Re: City Walk Uptown - (1312 West Lake Street)
I have never understood why people hate this place so much. I suppose after 9, it brings out a different crowd, but nobody is forced to go there and nobody really has to deal with the crowd anyways. I go there strictly for lunch as they have great food and a great lunch deal. I dont like pretentiou...

Re: Nicollet Residences - (455 Nicollet Mall)
IMO condos don't make a ton of sense in moderately-priced (or especially cheap) markets, including Minneapolis. The purpose of a condo, to me, is to be able to have an equity stake in your apartment because you can't afford to purchase a home (or don't want to live THAT far away from your office). ...

Re: UTEC Student Housing - (1313 Fifth Street Southeast)
To me, it really doesn't look all that bad. It's bulky, sure...but I would take this over the Melrose or Murals any day. As I have said before...the building that is here now is really nothing special, and that is coming from a person who likes to save old buildings whenever possible. Just my two ce...

Re: Magellan Apartment Tower - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
Someone on Minnescraper said the contract was awarded to Adolfson and Peterson a long time ago...I was pretty sure it was you Equipmentimages? That's the only reason I knew they were the contractor...was from that site. That's why I was pleased to see their name on the barriers a couple weeks ago.

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
Also, Denver has Tourists. That helps, A LOT. PS, Denver doesn't really have that much retail downtown. Certainly less vacant retail than Mpls, yes...but I would say Minneapolis probably still has more retail, even in it's diminished state. Nicollet def needs updating badly though, and it sounds lik...

Re: Third North
This one does look pretty ugly. And while the building that is there is certainly nothing special at all, i do wish this was filling one of the nearby massive surface lots. Also, any word on what will happen to the old HGA HQ a block down and on Washington? It is just sitting there vacant now it wou...

I don't think it has ever even been stated that the reason for the panels at least looking less obvious than they do in the renderings was because of air flow? I am pretty sure that was just someone on this forum's guess? I feel like maybe they just made the renderings pretty...the rest of the build...

Because Lake and Nicollet is not uptown. At all. Also, why isn't this in the Uptown forum? (half-serious / half-trolling)

Re: Burch Pharmacy Building
The house is nothing special, and not in wonderful condition, but that will make for 3 surface lots in a row on that side of the street...which is already a fairly unattractive street, as the next two buildings up are fairly run down 1960s apartment complexes. Oh well. Such potential in that area, b...

Yeah, I think that little trailer is for some work they are doing at the Eitel building...the street signs say the lane is just closed until August 2nd or something.

I think that is a pretty nice looking building if that is still the plan. Nicer than The Bridgewater to be sure.

Re: Neiman Marcus Closing DT Location
I agree that it is unfortunate about the lag time...it does seem that if we can actually add a lot more residents really close to the core, which it seems we will...demand for retail could and should go up again.

Re: Neiman Marcus Closing DT Location
I find this as good news. Wouldn't it be wonderful if Best Buy decided to create a small 20,000-40,000 sq. ft. store! :o Also maybe a Old Navy on the upper floors! I know only in my dreams! Realistically I doubt Neiman Marcus would be on of the new anchors in the MOA (Bloomingdales location) ...

Re: Nicollet Residences
I really think it is the same, as I said in the other thread...it is just an entirely different angle and entirely different lighting. Of course the top looks bigger on the rendering that is looking from underneath with up lighting! I was never actually a fan of the design for this one...i think the...

Has there even been a revised rendering released? It looked the same in the background the Xcel rendering...but I only count 27 floors.
PS, you are the one who brough up The Nicollet Residences:)
