Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

So, not like the Washington Ave cycletracks or a typical painted lane. You can see them in the dark grey on the left and right. I would say they are for casual cyclists. The families and parkgoers are using them, while more serious cyclists or those with attitude seem to be taking to the street whi...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

I tried out the cycle tracks on Plymouth Avenue in both directions today. This is anecdotal of course but I saw six other bikers, all of whom were also using the cycle tracks. The crossings at driveways and side streets are nice and smooth, and I like that some of the crossings have a slight hump s...

Re: Satori Minneapolis (Broadway from Aldrich-Emerson)

Days after the groundbreaking a double homicide on the intersection. I saw the emergency responders heading that way on Saturday and knew something was up.

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT

I also don't get why it is going to take so many years to complete the 1/2 mile tunnel. Are they digging with spoons? Seriously, London is finally opening their Corss Rail/ Elizabeth Line this year after several years of delay. However, that extensive tunneling went through one of the densest and o...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT

Yeah, they're making pretty good progress on the Glenwood bridges now, I can't comprehend why it would take two more years for that portion of the Cedar Lake trail to reopen.
I agree it looked like they were maybe putting the final trail paving in near 394 and Cedar Lake Trail on Monday.

Re: Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board

Minneapolis ranked 5th in TPL parkscore ranking. https://www.tpl.org/parkscore I'm not sure what to make of this. Are these ratings believable? I feel Minneapolis was short changed a bit. During yesterday's City Council Meeting on the North Commons Park transformation, a staff member said they don'...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT

See if they can host an event like the lynlake street art series. They could make a large mural that reflects downtown and the city vs a bland wall. That or make a green wall as they will never be able to keep it "like new" They need to do some form of public art or mural at 394 and the C...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

I haven't used those cycle tracks so I don't know what they're like, but if it's like the cycle tracks on 66th Street in Richfield then there's a lot of side streets and driveways where you have to slow down and prepare to stop because motorists insist on stopping right on top of the cycle track cr...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

Perhaps the MPD should follow their own policy from 2019 and not initiate high speed chases, given their obvious risk to the general public. Wasn't MPD, it was GVPD. It also appears we have a group of street racers or drug dealers nearby...they circle the area speeding around in their souped up Cha...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

The thesis has been that infrastructure which removes cyclists from cars is better that which doesn't. This thesis is running into issues on the newly redone Plymouth Avenue N between Penn and Xerxes. Cyclists going both directions are choosing to ride in the very narrow street rather than the cycle...

Re: Bassett Creek Valley Redevelopment

The article is more about the Harrison Neighborhood than Bassett Creek. Olson Court is on Highway 55. There isn't really anything new in the article. It just highlights several projects which have been working through the city for the past months. One thing, not mentioned is that the Wellington Prop...

Re: St. Anthony Main - General Topics

A continuation of E River Pkwy to Main would do wonders. With the U Of M Steam plant converting fully to natural gas that might be a possibility. The Marcy Holmes neighborhood was pushing for this at some point. If ran it along the bluff somehow without it falling in the river along the U of M land...

I liked this idea to turn the south deck of the Hennepin Avenue Bridge over to walking and biking exclusively.
I do too. I am not as sure about taking cars off of Hennepin. But, this area is so car-centric, I'm not sure what would happen if you removed them here.

Re: Northside - News & General Topics

I'm in north quite a bit. Last Friday I was on Penn Ave and it still has plenty of open lots. Although I did notice fencing went up just north of Lowry a while back but no construction appears to be happening. Maybe I've been watching to many Strong Towns videos but it seems to me the city should d...

Re: Northside - News & General Topics

Do additions not need to include affordable units? Not that I'm complaining. With all the empty lots around north I wonder why the city doesn't just build triplexes on them and sell them at cost (or a loss even). I bet they would make whatever they lost and then some back over the life of the prope...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

So, who gets to tell Wisconsin they're losing Interstate 535 and you don't you think they'd raise enough stink over it that the federal government would never allow us to remove the interstate designation and build a ramp with signals? I agree, 610 just kinda loses it's purpose past 94. There isn't...

I am sort of confused as to where they want this or why..given 94 is right there. Maple Grove seeks to extend heavily traveled Hwy. 610 Three online open houses outlining plans will be held Wednesday. "The first segment of Hwy. 610 was built in 1986 with a Mississippi River crossing connecting ...
