Re: Downtown Minneapolis - News & General Topics

I am downtown everyday and last week there was a significant increase in foot traffic. Most restaurants that are open have decent lines over the lunch hour. I have also seen some of the skyway restaurants starting to extend their hours.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis - News & General Topics

That’s good to hear. And you’re seeing this in the core, not just the Mill District and North Loop? I had this same question. A coworker continually says “downtown is back” when referencing his residential neighborhood but then when pressed says the core is only slowly opening as office workers tri...

Nicollet was pretty busy this weekend, and the lunch crowd has definitely picked up in the core, especially this week.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis - News & General Topics

A plan to ‘reanimate’ downtown’s Nicollet Mall Great to see business leaders step up here. It will be hard to make downtown vibrant again without more downtown workers coming back, but OTOH if these groups can do some programming to make nicollet less dead it will hopefully entice more office worke...

Re: Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Corridors

Is it going to be one of those massive and over-engineered intersections like what they did at Penn and Lyndale across 494? Keep in mind those interchanges are designed that way to accommodate the replacement of the 35w/494 interchange, mainly to have room for the fly overs. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL...

I don't have any numbers but I can tell you that both the Hyatt Place and the Normandy have both been significantly busier the past couple weeks.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis - News & General Topics

Does anyone have access to this article and able to provide details:

I don't like the idea of a surface lot even if it is temporary.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market

A friend that works at a fancy downtown restaurant says while the sheer numbers of people aren't back yet, the big spenders are going wild and spending much more than usual. Spoke with Lisa Goodman and the city is definitely working on ways of getting people back downtown, but one things she mentio...

Excited to see this go up. What is going on across Portland? Staging or new construction? That has just been storage for plywood and barriers for the trial. Right now I don't think there are any plans for that lot, but it hasn't been used for parking for a while. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapat...

Equipment has arrived on this block today, hopefully it is for this project. They mentioned a couple months ago they were hoping to start construction in April. Image

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

Ooh, fun. 8,000 sq feet must be one of the street level corners - wonder if it's the old Prime 6 spot, or on Nicollet? From City Centers leasing site, looks like it will be on 6th Street next to the tower entrance. Sounds like the sports bar is a separate tenant (which is great news for City Center...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market

I work with several small and mid size companies that have offices downtown, and many of them are going to start having their employees come back to the office part time in May. Specifically one of my larger clients wants employees downtown 3 days a week in May, and 4 days a week by the end of summe...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

Star Tribune had an article talking about how most downtown business are planning on starting to remove the boarded up windows starting next week. They interviewed the owners of City Center, and they said they are leaving the boards up at 7th and Nicollet as they prepare the space for a new tenant. ...

The Pizza Hut at 11th and Hennepin has re-opened. Not sure why they closed in the first place, maybe they reconfigured there space.
