Re: Northstar
Apparently there will be a few legislators pushing for the extension as the new session starts, but I can't say if anything will come of it. http://www.sctimes.com/article/20130107/NEWS01/301070022/River-s-Edge-Northstar-among-local-priorities-when-Legislature-opens-Tuesday-?nclick_check=1 Not a su...

Re: Saint Paul Retail News
It's official, the downtown St. Paul Macy's will be closing. Store employees were to be told this week that the store will shut down in late March, according to sources who did not want to be named. http://www.startribune.com/local/stpaul/185462222.html That was bound to happen sooner or later, but...

Re: Past Transit Plans
It's sad how the BRE study from the mid-80's is quite similar to the overall LRT network built by 2018 did not come into reality until 30-35 years after that study was made. I wonder how Minneapolis and Saint Paul would look now if they started building out the network a decade or two before, along ...

Re: University Recreation & Wellness Center Expansion
Gotta love in-state tuition........saves a bundle! A bundle of what? Hardly. Apparently we are one of the cheapest Big Ten schools for out-of-state students, but one of the most expensive when it comes to in-state tuition rates. The Strib just recently released an article discussing the tuition rat...

Re: White Bear Corridor
It would also cause problems with the part running along County Road B2 as well, because at least the County C portion has more space for the tracks than B2 does. It would have to run in the median near Rosedale, unless they want to go through part of the parking lot.

Re: White Bear Corridor
That seems like a good idea, I drive on County Rd C almost daily and I don't see trains too often, so if they can divert the freight traffic, that would lessen the issues with building the LRT tracks. I would be happy if they even just built it to Rosedale, though they would probably have to build a...

Re: White Bear Corridor
Oops, I just realized that the LRT alignment on County Road C just veers off the road west of the Victoria St. Intersection, (I misread the map and thought it went along C past Victoria, my apologies). Would there be enough room for the LRT though? Given the fact there is that freight rail line, bik...

Re: White Bear Corridor
From looking at the alignment at County Road C in Roseville, would the LRT tracks be placed where the center lanes are or on one of the sides of the road? Since that stretch of road is currently a narrow 4-lane road with no shoulders (making it not too bike-friendly), it would have to be downgraded ...

Re: How do you primarily get around?
Since I live in the suburbs (Little Canada), I end up driving everywhere I go except during the school year. When I commute to the U of M, I park in Roseville and take the bus to the West Bank either by riding Route 87 and the 121/Connector or the 272 Express. If the 272 stopped at the new Rice Stre...
