Re: 10th & Marquette Development
You day because people don't enjoy their hanging balconies? Say what you want but it's an economical way to give urban life some outdoor space, and a valued amenity. A consolation for people wanting a yard but wanting to live urban. The aesthetic is only marginally obstructive compared to the lifes...

Walk ups on Marquette?? I honestly don't see that as an amenity. And the hanging balconies ugh. I'd be okay if this never happens.

Re: Lake & Nicollet Redevelopment (Kmart site)
There's a big difference between expanding to a new market with low brand recognition and moving into the heart of cities with smaller stores. The issue with Canada is that they were competing in a new market with nearly zero brand recognition. yes, people will stop by a new store to check it out, ...

Unfortunately, the people who run barfly own the building. So no time soon. As horrible as it is, it still makes tons of money.I'd love to see Bar Fly out of there, ICK! What are the chances that ever happens? Slim to none?

Re: Uptown Development Map and General Discussion
Let me guess... 15 year lease, business is doing fine, suddenly LynLake is much hotter than it was when the lease was signed, and landlord does anything they can to break the lease so they can get a few hundred bucks more each month. Exactly. And people are now out of jobs. I heard from someone who...

Re: Uptown Development Map and General Discussion
Hey, if private enterprise wants to invest their own money into a sports bar and not a place for start-up bands to play then isn't that their prerogative? I wish there were more small live music venues in the area (especially Uptown) but apparently that mold didn't fit as a business, at least not f...

Most headlines I've seen say Minneapolis, see Espn, sports illustrated etc., but every video I've seen they say Minnesota. Maybe its just memory to say Minnesota when talking about the Minnesota Viking's stadium, it's not the Illinois Bears after all.

Yeah Target is not nearly as bad as Sears is/has been. Sears is a complete disaster and its more than a reach to say that Target is going down that path because they're so "Minnesotan". Also this http://gawker.com/i-do-not-know-one-person-who-is-happy-at-amazon-1572478351 either these are ...

Those buildings stick out like a sore thumb now. I hope they can replace them with something a little more appropriate for the site. Did the flyer have a render? Or just details?

This article sums up the state of Sears today pretty well. All in all it is a disaster and don't expect Sears to be a willing partner in any redevelopment.
