Re: WaHu Student Housing - (1016 Washington Avenue Southeast

Yeah, it was when they realigned the Huron/Washington/University/Oak St. area to make way for the new Stadium. It used to be a slightly larger triangle, and with the tracks going in, I don't think the remaining land would be very feasible for development, even without a drainage pond. It is somethin...

Re: Southwest LRT

Yeah, I have a hard time believing a pledge to help streamline construction on a single infill station in already Democratic-leaning Northeast Ohio will have much of an effect on the decisions of swing voters in the center of the state. I will say that I find this announcement a little confusing. It...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure.

Yeah, I noticed those, too. I assume they are meant to better connect Nicollet Mall (a "shared street") to 15th as well as 1st and Blaisdell, since both of those sort of peter off. There are also new lanes (and sharrows in some areas) on Central, as well as a lot of new and repainted brigh...

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha)

As far as I know Metro Transit is not going to have 24 hour service other day of the week. The two additional trips on Friday and Saturday night are funded by City of Minneapolis. I would rather have Metro Transit spend the money elsewhere. Oh, you probably just don't want your night shift to be an...

Re: Green Line (Central)

Not a current student, but I did walk across it recently. The pedestrian enclosure is still badly in need of repair, I don't think much has been done to it recently. It doesn't seem like it would be hugely expensive to replace the enclosure, I would assume it could be done in the span of a summer br...

Re: Green Line (Central)

I think I read somewhere that those granite pavers were recovered from in between the old streetcar tracks that were underneath the paving on University and only recently removed.

Re: Vikings Stadium

It certainly looks like it is a somewhat schematic rendering of the Minneapolis Skyline in the second one. The street grid is more or less correct, and the big three are there as well. Not saying they didn't use a conceptual rendering that could have been designed for anywhere, but they at least too...

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha)

Well, that means for 2 days of the week, Hiawatha will effectively operate 24 hours a day. The first southbound trip of the day leaves Target Field at a little after 4. There will still be a 2 hour or so gap between the northbound trips, however...

Disappointing that it will be only every 30 mins evenings and weekends, but I can't say I am surprised. I have always thought this project was a little odd, in a low density corridor.

Re: Green Line (Central)

In order to fit under the railroad bridge on Lexington, I would assume it would be operated with a Cutaway style small bus, not a 30' full size bus like the 87. It does seem strange to use such a small bus on an urban route. I can't think of another route that primarily serves Minneapolis or St. Pau...

Re: Green Line (Central)

A presentation on the final recommendations for the bus restructuring has been posted on the Met Council website. Here are some highlights: -Route 94 has gotten a reprieve, it is proposed to run every 30 mins mid day, every 10 mins peak. -Route 83 has changes to both the north and south end routing....

So, a tiny colored light on the front of the train is going to tell people the difference between green line and blue line....? How do we tell where a bus is going. By the destination sign on the front of the bus. Same will hold true for the trains. Trains will have MOA or St. PAul of DTWN M...

Re: MSP Airport

Yes, the long intersecting runway (4/22) is an actual runway, but it doesn't do much to increase capacity, since the two parallel runways have to be shut down in order to use it. I don't think it is used much at all currently, Northwest and Delta used it once per day for the 747 departure to Tokyo, ...

Yes, this set up is a little awkward. On Minnescraper, if you uploaded it instead of linked to an external image, there would be scroll bars, but when you clicked on the photo, it expanded without making the rest of the page out of whack. I do like being able to host on the site directly. I do link ...
