Re: Magellan Apartment Tower - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
I don't think they were talking about work this fall...I think they just took whatever Magellan told them too literally. They did tow away the last cars that were in the lot today, so it is now totally empty.

Since when is the Eitel building selling condos? I haven't heard of that.

Re: Downtown Restaurant News
I like Tom. But maybe I'm a lifelong hood as well? I'd say let's see where this ends up before trashing the guy but what do I know. With all due respect...he has had plenty of chances to prove himself, but just keeps doing shady things. I used to defend him to some degree too, but I have kind of lo...

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me. It is what he does....hops from restaurant to restaurant, trying to avoid debts. Or so I hear. Purely gossip of course.

Re: 2316-2320 Colfax Apartments
I'd be against that one. It knocks down a few decent solid 100 year old houses...and that block already has 1960s crap apartments on the other side of the street. I guess I interpreted this and a few other similar statements as being in favor of keeping the existing houses. Pretty sure someone even...

Re: 2316-2320 Colfax Apartments
Who said detached homes would be the only thing appropriate for this site? I don't think anyone did...I think the consensus was leaning more towards town houses. But yeah, you are right...build anything anywhere. That is the only way we will be a real city, is if a developer can but a 5 story box an...

If I had to guess, I would say that house is from the 1890s.

Re: (501 15th Avenue Southeast)
I love how it saves those nice old buildings! Though I will say, the one house the plan on tearing down does appear to be close to 120 years old, and quite interesting. Not to be repeatitive from the uptown thread. This spot is appropriate for a 5 story building I think though...too bad there is a n...

Re: 2316-2320 Colfax Apartments
Ok, I typed a reply, but it didn't go through. Weird. The houses there are nothing special really, but suit the street much better than a 5 story apartment block IMO. This is a quite side street...rowhouses would be okay(chicago type infill that we never seem to see). I am far from a nimby, but I ju...

I am pretty sure that Nicollet Mall originally did have heated sidewalks in some form? At least I thought so...surprised nobody brought that up.

Re: Magellan Apartment Tower - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
Your guess is as good as mine, and I tend to be negative anyway, but do you have anything to back that up? They were doing drilling samples on the site as recently as a couple of weeks ago, and utility poles were relocated from the site. Not sure why they would keep going through the motions if they...

Re: Burch Pharmacy Building - (1934 Hennepin Avenue)
We just hardly had any snow at all last year, only around 23 inches, compared to an average of 45 to 50...and when we did it always melted. We had a few inches in Mid November, and then several inches the beginning of December. Just no "permanent snowcover". It was great for construction, ...

Re: Convention Center Hotel - (330 South 12th Street)
Delayed response... That hotel is in such dire need of rehab...this has been in the works for a couple years now, but there have been fights between the ownership and management. The dome is still open...it is banquet space. When built, it was a rotating restaurant. It doesn't rotate anymore, but it...

Re: MSP Airport
What I got from the article is that the plan is to actually convert part of the parking ramp directly across from the main entrance? It said the plan was for it to be "built into" the current parking structure.
