Re: Xcel Energy Center
Correct, there is currently 0 reason to do a full scale replacement of the X. It's still very well thought of across the league, loved by fans and far superior to the Target Center for concerts. For an original construction price of $170 million the X is the best & most important invest in St. P...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis - News & General Topics
They better keep the plan to have a gondola cross the river and enter the west side of the post office for its downtown terminus. This idea (rightfully) gets laughed at as a serious form of transit and public infrastructure and it's definitely not something government should get involved in financi...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis - News & General Topics
Tearing down that ugly ass ramp and turning it into a park/stairs/entrance/etc. might not be the #1 on the list of single biggest land use upgrades in DT but is sure isn't far off the top of that list.

Re: Better Bus Routes - Metro Transit
I get the complaint about how many bus routes flow through downtown but what's the route from north to south that doesn't as least graze the edge of DT? Lowry Hill, the Sculpture Garden & 394 force anything west of Lyndale on to Lyndale. On the east you have the river, I guess you could use Cede...

I went from "great project" to "it would sure be nice if they could buy and include the two apartment buildings right to the south" to "oh those are condos nevermind" real quick

Re: Interstate 94
If removal was ever really on the table, not sure it ever was, it died quickly when activists demanded it while also tacking on a bunch of progressive policy items that while mostly good had little to do with the actual issue. It gave serious and powerful people a reason to dismiss them out of hand ...

Re: Interstate 94
I get why LRT isn't going to happen because of the Green Line argument, I just think it's dumb. Who cares that two lines run parallel close to each other? They serve 2 very different purposes, 1 local 1 express, and there is benefit in that. I really don't find the regional equity argument compellin...

Looks like they got the full $195m talked about on the last page.

I would also put the additional money to faster tracks & trains as always seems to be hard/most expensive thing to improve in the future.

Re: Green Line LRT
Random side note to the new storage barn but I think it would be wise for Metro Transit to plan/create a new LRT vehicle drop off interchange around this area instead of solely relying on the one just north of Lake Street forever

Re: Gold Line BRT (Gateway Corridor)
First are we sure they are 100% going with inline middle lane platform stations like at Lake & 46th on 35W? Beyond obviously being ideal solution, they are probably the only workable solution as well that doesn't kill trip time. Dale/Victoria could make some sense as long it's part of freeway ca...

While I get your larger point, I94 has to be crossed somehow & to imply grade separation in each location is the exact same set of variables is preposterousThey'll consider a two-mile-long bridge to get across I-94, but grade separation anywhere along W. Broadway is right out?

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
As somebody who almost never rides LRT into downtown, how bad is the problem actually ? And how much is it an operational problem that some dedicated tweaking of traffic signals and maybe supervision of station operations, or maybe stop consolidation, could fix? While the idea of a downtown tunnel ...

I would also speculate that that area is more likely to be used an expansion of the law school, Humphrey School or even Carlson vs medical space. A medical center expansion on the West bank would more likely be down by Riverside park, across from Augsburg or even a large demo/rebuild of the current ...

Re: Minneapolis Population / Density - General Discussion
I was thinking about this over the holiday weekend would it be possible to create a color coded map classifying each parcel in a city on some scale from unused to highest and best use based on context of it's location. So for example a SFH in Longfellow would be highest and best use while the same h...

Re: Minneapolis Population / Density - General Discussion
Are there any good reasonably objective measures of how close a city is to being out of space? I feel like there is a good amount inherent subjectivity to that measure depending on how space is defined and if that space is at it's highest and best use.

Re: D Line - Chicago-Fremont/Emerson Rapid Bus
Also after speaking to an operator, he told me that the C-Lines transit signal priority was cut back and the D-Line has very little transit signal priority? Does anyone know if that's true? And if so why aren't more people talking about it. Transit signal priority was one of the cornerstones of aBR...
